The sound of a healthy two-stroke, whether moped, bulldog or lawnmower, engines and vehicles have always fascinated me as a child. To the chagrin of my parents, nothing was safe from me with wheels or other technical devices and I screwed everything apart and together with more or less success. This eventually led me to study automotive engineering and my current job as a development engineer in the automotive industry. Growing up in southern Bavaria, I had few points of contact with GDR vehicles and only came to the Simson by chance at the end of my studies.

Always the desire to own a historic vehicle, I had rather limited financial possibilities as a student. During my research I came across the Simsons and was immediately fascinated by the idea of owning a vehicle with so much interesting engineering history.
My first Simson was an S51, which I brought back into shape with a lot of naivety and new insights. Since then, two swallows have been added and I have become a big fan of these Eastern vehicles, their technology and unique history. I particularly appreciate the simplicity and robustness of the technical solutions on the Simsons. Designed in such a way that you can still repair and maintain the vehicle even after decades with simple steps, these mopeds are a direct contrast to today's automotive industry.

My small online shop with my self-developed products combines these two passions. On the one hand, as a Simson lover, it is a lot of fun for me to see how my customers beautify and individualize their mopeds with my products. On the other hand, I can let off steam creatively in the development and design of new products.

mihamoto steht für durchdachte Eigenentwicklungen – aus Leidenschaft für Technik, Design und das, was dazwischen liegt.

Der Name mihamoto hat für mich zudem eine ganz besondere Bedeutung:
Er setzt sich aus dem Vor- und Nachnamen meines Kindes und meiner Leidenschaft für alles, was sich bewegt ("moto"), zusammen.
So verbindet die Marke das, was mir am wichtigsten ist: Familie, Technik und die Freude am Gestalten.

Ich bin Chris – Ingenieur, Tüftler und Technik-Enthusiast. Schon als Kind wollte ich wissen, wie Dinge funktionieren – und noch lieber, wie man sie besser machen kann.
Was mit zerlegten Kaffeemaschinen und Rasenmähern begann, führte mich zum Studium der Fahrzeugtechnik und schließlich in die Entwicklungsabteilungen der Automobilindustrie.

Meine Faszination gilt besonders den Simson-Fahrzeugen. Ihre schlichte, aber geniale Konstruktion, die Robustheit und die Möglichkeit, alles selbst zu reparieren, sind für mich das perfekte Beispiel funktionaler Ingenieurskunst und manchmal ein direkter Kontrast zur heutigen Fahrzeugindustrie.

Viele meiner Entwicklungen kennt ihr vielleicht noch unter dem Namen zwoatakter – der Marke, unter der ich meine Teile ursprünglich entworfen und verkauft habe. Mit mihamoto führe ich diese Arbeit nun fort – weiterentwickelt, fokussierter und mit noch mehr Liebe zum Detail.

Ich entwickle Bauteile und Konzepte, die über reine Nachbauten hinausgehen – funktional, ästhetisch und immer mit Leidenschaft gedacht. Jedes Teil entsteht aus einer Idee heraus, etwas zu verbessern, zu vereinfachen oder schlicht schöner zu machen.

Ich freue mich, wenn meine Ideen euch inspirieren, euer Fahrzeug individuell zu gestalten – und wenn ihr mir zeigt, was ihr daraus macht.
