About

Natural color and unusual textiles

Milkweed Quilts is the collection of my daily work.
Included here are naturally dyed fabrics, upcycled vintage table linens, hand made quilts and special seeds from the garden.
I love using indigo, madder roots, walnut hulls, and a variety of other leaves and flowers grown in our backyard, or gathered on walks around the neighborhood.
The colors bloom on natural fabrics and fibers - and my hands when I neglect to wear gloves!
Some of my favorite materials are the vintage silks, cottons, wool and linens, mellowed, yet still strong, discovered at estate sales, yard sales and thrift shops. It's a delight to create new items with these textiles.
In my little workshop they become quilts, pillows, naturally dyed table linens and Christmas stockings.

My Grandmother taught me to look for "The color underneath".
This practice has led to my fascination with and inspiration by the pure colors in the backyard garden,
For me, the natural world is the best teacher.
Though my stitching isn't always perfect, the colors and textures are!
I remind myself that there are no straight lines in nature.......)

I'm grateful for my Etsy shop.
It has opened the door for me to connect and work with such wonderful customers and new friends.
Please feel free to ask questions or offer suggestions.
I'm always happy to hear from you.

I will mail your item and send you a message with the shipping information within 1 to 2 business days following your purchase.

I most often use USPS Priority mail, which includes delivery confirmation, for orders made within the United States.
Seed orders will be sent by USPS First Class,
Tracking and delivery confirmation numbers are always provided.

If you wish to upgrade to another service, such as Overnight or Express delivery, please send me a message, and I'll adjust the shipping options and shipping cost for your purchase.

If a package is returned to me due to an "insufficient address" or is "non deliverable as addressed" I will contact the buyer immediately.
If a second address is requested the buyer is responsible for the cost of the new postage label.

For international shipments, I generally use the first class option, which is the least expensive.
Again, if you wish to upgrade to another, faster service, please contact me.

International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries.
Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country.
Additional charges for customs clearance must be paid by the recipient; I have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be.
