Green Blessings. I’m Zarah—a mother of two, green witch, and herbalist in Detroit, MI working in the Wise Woman tradition. The art of herbalism is my passion and life’s work! I make medicines with plants that I have a profound connection with. These plants are invited into and cared for on my urban homestead, harvested at their peak potency, and extracted into micro batches for remedies and skill share events. In the summer of 2018, I apprenticed with the most bad ass Green Witch on the planet, the legendary American author and herbalist, Susun S. Weed. This experience transformed my “starving artist” mentality into a “mystery abundancing” mindset, where the wise woman never asks “why?,” but connects with the great spiral of life on one’s own terms.

I believe in health justice for all, DIY health, and DIY medicine. As the co-ordinator of the Detroit chapter of Herbalists Without Borders, I share as much of what I know and embody as possible rather than being a gatekeeper. Im a punk ass, dirt-under-the-fingernails, green-slime-on-my-face, type of Witch—a GREEN WITCH— and I am ready to offer these medicines for y’all.

A note on packaging and labels:

The environmental impact of the sticker industry has bothered me for quite some time and I make my remedies with as gentle an influence as possible. For years I used tree free mulberry paper, gum Arabic or latex rubber glues for my handmade labels. I am now using stickers printed with soy inks and biodegradable glues. Packing materials are upcycled or recycled keeping as much in the loop as possible.
