Artist Statement:
"Browsing through my repository of images, I started to be attracted by a subconscious theme running through the work that was induced by childhood memories of the Black Sea: an archive of nostalgic moments mapping my own displacement in the New World.
Roaming between panoramas and close ups, all the new, the lens of time over exposes the old glam in subconscious dreamscapes."

5 out of 5 starsThese masks are very well-made with close attention to details. They have a very prominent curve for the nose, which fits nicely, especially if you wear glasses. We picked for the shape of the mask and because it has a nose wire to form more closely to the face, a pocket to add additional filter layers, and ties so it doesn’t pull on the ears. Tight weave on the fabric should help as good barrier - and the material is beautiful. Far nicer than expected. Got both a black-on-black pattern and a mauve striped pattern. Good for a medium size face to cover from the nose to the chin. VERY HAPPY!!

About Mina Teslaru
Mina Teslaru (°1982, Bucharest) makes photos and installations. By exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, Teslaru investigates the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated to conjure the realms of our imagination.
Her photos establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that imagined by its' conceiver. These works focus on concrete questions that determine our existence. By examining the ambiguity and origination via retakes and variations, she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.
Her works never shows the complete structure. This results in the fact that the artist can easily imagine an own interpretation without being hindered by the historical reality. By applying abstraction, she tries to increase the dynamic between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations.
Her works doesn’t reference recognizable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. Mina Teslaru currently lives and works in Roxbury, NY.
