About

Taking your old sweaters and turning them into something fabulous!

This little shop is all about taking old, unwanted garments and giving them new life. That tacky old sweater makes a really funky pair of mitts!

All my fingerless gloves, mittens, and leg warmers are made from old wool sweaters - I felt them, cut them up, and put them back together again!

I also use many upcycled, non-wool sweaters and other recycled fabrics. These are incorporated into children's leg warmers, swirly skirts, and hats which consist of softer (non-itchy) fibres such as cotton, rayon, and acrylic.

I try to have as little waste from these projects as possible and use the leftover pieces in my coffee bodum covers and cup cozies, which is tedious but fun!

Mirabeans is a one-women factory! I source all my fabrics, do all the felting, designs, cutting, piecing, and sewing. I get a little photography help from my husband, and my 5 year old helps with the sweater shopping and post office deliveries.

Thanks for taking the time to read about mirabeans and for supporting handmade!

Your parcel will be sent 24-48 business hours after payment.
All parcels are sent by letter airmail which does NOT include a tracking number. If you require tracking, and/or expedited shipping, please select the correct shipping upgrade during your purchase. I currently offer expedited shipping to Canada and the USA only.

Please ensure that your MAILING ADDRESS is correct and your EMAIL information is current as I may need to contact you regarding your purchase!

DELIVERY TIMES:
Canada Post quotes 5-10 business days for delivery and most of my packages arrive within that time. Some countries and locations may take longer. Please note that international parcels can be held by Customs for up to 5 weeks (very rare). You are responsible for any custom charges or tariffs that may result when the package enters your country, please be aware of your country's restrictions.

SHIPPING UPGRADES:
1. Tracked Packet shipping includes a tracking number, and delivery times are approximately 5-10 business days. This option is available for orders destined to the USA for approximately $17 USD.
2. Xpresspost shipping includes tracking, insurance, and guaranteed delivery date. **Please note that the delivery time does not include day sent. i.e. 4 business day delivery sent on Monday will arrive on Friday.** This option is available for orders destined to the USA for approximately $30 USD, and within Canada for approximately $17 USD.

For shipping upgrades please include the following in notes to seller:
1. Desired delivery date so I can confirm with post office. I will contact you before shipping if there is a delay allowing you to cancel transaction if needed (possible delays include destination, weather, and holidays). Please ensure I have your current email address!
2. Your telephone number is required for the paperwork.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Refunds and Exchanges
It is very important to me that you are completely happy with your purchase. Please contact me to request a refund and to make arrangements for the return.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am very email friendly! Please contact me if you have any questions about anything in my shop, or require extra photos, additional measurements, etc.

Many of the fabrics I use are recycled and I try my hardest to avoid using discolored and overly worn portions. The felting process changes the texture of the sweaters and can create a slightly 'matted' appearance to the wool, as well as slight color variations. This makes your item totally unique!

PHOTOS & COLOURS:
- please understand that colours may vary slightly depending on the computer monitor you are viewing them on.
- if you require exact colors, please contact me for further photos and if possible I can mail you a piece of the fabric.

CARE & WASHING:
- cold water wash only.
- hand washing is recommended for longevity.
- for items with exposed stitching, turn inside-out before washing.
- if machine washing, use a mesh delicates bag and a delicate setting.
- roll in towel to remove excess moisture and hang or lay flat to dry.

WEAR & TEAR:
- all items are meant for casual wear and not work wear. constant rubbing action will wear through even heavy weight wool.
- a fabric shaver works best to remove pills from the fabric without damage.
- if an exposed stitch is snagged and becomes loose, use a large-eye needle to pull thread back through the area of stitching.
- delicate fabrics such as cashmere, lightweight merino, and lambswool require delicate wear and care.

SIZES & EXTRA INFO:
- most of my fingerless mitts, mittens, and leg warmers are one of a kind (OOAK) items, the sweaters will be used in more than one pair of mitts but generally each pair is unique.
- the listings aren't made to order - the size listed is what's available.
- many of my items are 'in between' sizes. A small-medium is 'bigger than a small but smaller than a medium'.

I think that covers it! If I missed anything or you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
