Inspired by the landscape and history of rural life.

I am an artist and jeweller working out of my home studio in Windermere, Ontario, Canada. After receiving a BFA in visual art from Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University, I returned home to the Muskoka area in 2001 and became an active member of the local artistic community.
In 2006 I indulged a lifelong fascination with personal adornment by enrolling in the Jewellery Essentials program at the Haliburton School of the Arts and I've been making jewellery ever since.
Living in rural Canada, I find myself influenced by both the shapes and lines of the natural world as well as the fragments of human narratives that have been etched into the landscape by the settlers of the area.
Something as simple as the lines of a lone spruce tree or as intriguing as a rusty old salt-shaker, found on the forest floor, can serve as a departure point for my creative process. The history evoked by a decrepit fenceline or the simplicity of a barn swallow silhouetted against a bright sky are other fragments of my daily life that have found their way into my work.
In my studio, I combine my knowledge of traditional hand fabrication techniques with a love of experimentation. I allow the materials, whether precious metals or found objects, to guide the creative process while maintaining a commitment to produce pieces that are concise and elegant in design.
