Announcement   WE ARE DONATING UP TO 50% OF ALL SALES TO MEDICALLY COMPLEX CHILDREN IMPACTED BY HURRICANE HARVEY. TODAY THROUGH MONDAY. LET'S HELP TOGETHER.
Organic Cotton + Gender Neutral + Socially Conscious. We contribute a portion of all profits to Girls' Education in India through Room to Read.

I love the idea of gender neutral, especially for kids. Girls and boys can roar like tigers alike. "My Tiger" onesie is for all little ones. You will see that once you start browsing through my line of infant clothing and accessories. I'm a textile designer, having studied print and woven design in Mumbai-India and at FIT(Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York City. I've been designing all my life, from handmade birthday cards to screen printing yards of fabric.

Mirasa is truly a product of my heritage which believes firmly in giving back what was given to you. As a result, a portion of the proceeds from all mirasa purchases will go to Girls' Education in India through Room to Read.

No brick & mortar shop just yet. But for those of you in the Washington DC area I’m at Eastern Market most weekends and at The Downtown Holiday Market from Nov 30- Dec 16th. See you!

Mirasa Design was started in 2009. As an experienced textile designer I formerly designed quilts and linens for the home. When my niece, Atia, turned one, I made some soft toys with tactile elements to stimulate Atia’s sense of imagination and play. The toys were bundled into a cloth bag that Atia could easily carry around with her. Watching her play with these toys inspired Aashumi to produce Mirasa Design’s My Fun line for infants and toddlers. This first collection evolved into onesies, hoodies, blankets and much more.

mirasa design looks at the world through the eyes of a curious child. Building on the dual theories that tactile stimulation is crucial for infant development and that child-directed pretend play helps develop children’s early cognitive development, our toys simply gives children a platform to make up their own play. What do different textures feel like? How do the toys and accessories interact with each other? What stories can be created during play? The colors are intentionally unconventional, because a child’s world goes beyond pink and blue. And, you can feel even better about mirasa because all our products are produced using fair trade practices and are eco-friendly.

Mirasa Design is truly a product of my heritage heritage, which believes firmly in giving back what was given to you. As a result, a portion of the proceeds from all mirasa purchases will go to Room to Read, a non-profit that partners with local communities throughout the developing world to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children's literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls. Your purchase will contribute to Room to Read’s girls’ education program and the reading room program in India.
