Yarn Tamer | Dye Wrangler

Miss Click Clack first dyed yarn to feed a sock yarn obsession. Dyeing was fast, and it was fun. But when she did the math and discovered that it would take 712 years to knit her stash she went retail.

Miss Click Clack's favourite fibre is wool.

Miss Click Clack's DK bases are named after the places she explored on a red dragster bike wearing DK knits as a little kid. Her sock yarns are named after inner city precincts she enjoys as a big kid.

This shop is a stellina-free zone.

Additional policies and FAQs

TOLERANCE & ANTI - DISCRIMINATION POLICY
I support human diversity in all its forms. I support antiracism. I support sexual diversity. I support gender diversity. I support the disabled. I support the neurodiverse. I support individuals of all ages.

Most of my yarn is sold through this online store. There isn’t a bricks and mortar space that I own, or control, where I sell my yarn, or where get togethers of my customers are hosted.
On rare occasions I will make a ‘live’ appearance - either selling yarn in a market space, or by attending crafting get togethers at a café or restaurant.

While I have no control over the individuals that are able to pass through the larger domains of these venues – other stallholders, market patrons, hospitality staff, other café or restaurant patrons, and the general public – I would like to express my deep conviction that the intimate space around me - the space that I can see readily, the space that is within my earshot, the space that is, for a time, ‘Miss Click Clack’-space - should be a safe and respectful space for all, free from all forms of discrimination, bullying and harassment, and that by entering this space an individual agrees to engage in interactions consistent with both these expectations and relevant legislation (Commonwealth and State) as outlined below. Individuals who exhibit inappropriate behaviours may be asked to leave the space either by me or my representative; or the matter may be referred to the manager of the venue.

Subject to any legal impediment, I also reserve the right to prevent access to my products to anyone who I witness acting in breach of these policies whether perpetrated against me or others.

PHOTOS AND DESCRIPTION
Several images are provided. Please examine the images carefully, and read the description. I do not refund if you change your mind, or if pertinent information about the listing was present in the description and you did not read it. Colours may vary from screen to screen. Check on another screen if unsure.

I often use a Pantone Colour Guide to assist characterisation of the colours. Your own internet search of the Pantone colour name may also assist your appraisal of the colours in the images.

BATCHES
I group well-matched skeins from a single dyeing event in the one listing. Alternating skeins is recommended, as is buying sufficient yarn for your project from the one dyeing event.

CUSTOM DYEING: I may accept a custom orders of an established colourway. Shoot me message.

RANDOM SPOTS and POOLING
Buyers should be aware of the vagaries of hand-dyed yarn - speckles or spots of colour, uneven dye distribution, and a propensity for colours to pool or flash once knitted if colour repeats are long, or non-random in distribution.

KNOTS, SPLICES, SKEINS

KNOTS
If I see a knot I mention it in the description. I don't see all knots. Fenwick Street Flashmerino - a soft, extrafine merino blend - is my most knot-prone base. I tolerate two knots per skein.

SPLICES
I don't always detect splices. Your skein may have splices.

SKEIN SIZE
I weigh all skeins, and the weight of each skein varies. Please ensure that you choose a skein of sufficient meterage to suit your needs. When a batch of skeins is listed the weight of the lightest skein goes into the description. You may receive a skein heavier than that described :)

RE-SKEINING
I generally do not re-skein. This allows you to appraise a skein for its propensity to flash/pool. Should a skein be re-skeined (eg: if it is exceptionally messy) it will be noted in the description.

COLOURWORK AND COLOUR FASTNESS
Assessing yarn for colour fastness is recommended prior to commencing projects that require two or more colourways as the pH of your water may not be the same of mine, and may cause some colour leaching.

CARE OF YOUR GARMENT

My dyes may not perform to 'superwash' conditions. Garments made from Miss Click Clack hand-dyed yarn should be hand-washed separately in cold water using a gentle wash agent. Some water tinting may occur. It would be prudent to pre-wash/test yarn for bleeding prior to embarking on colourwork projects.

ENVIRONMENT

I have a smoke-free, pet-friendly home.

OTHER

WHOLESALE ENQUIRES
I do not have wholesale pricing. The prices listed here are the prices for all purchases irrespective of quantity.

COLLABORATIONS
I rarely enter into collaborations with designers. Designers are, however, welcome to purchase from the shop.

PRIZES FOR YOUR COMPETITION
I offer generous prizes to participants in Miss Click Clack KALs, so am disinclined generally to donate yarn to the prize pool of an external KAL.
