Hello and welcome to Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Designs! So happy to see you!

WTFDesigns is committed to wearable, eco-friendly fashion and lifestyle. What does that mean? I'm glad you asked! Here are just a few of the things that I support:

handmade stuff (of course!)
eco-friendly fibers
upcycled goods
truly wearable art
unique design: influenced by the past but looking toward the future

In other words, I enjoy the impact and drama of the stuff that we put on our body, and if I’m going to do design clothes, I want to do it ethically and compassionately. To that end, I try to limit the amount of artificial and heavily processed fibers that I use in my knitting and embroidery: yarns made of such materials as acrylic, rayon, and tencel are neither environmentally safe nor sustainable. Additionally, I frequently use wonderful recycled yarn from Etsy seller and fellow Seattleite, smartmonkey (smartmonkey.etsy.com). You can also find a limited selection of vintage clothing and accessories here.

All designs featured here are copyright Glynis Mitchell & WTFDesigns unless used by permission and otherwise indicated. Like any artist, other artists that I admire or study will sometimes influence my work. If I purposefully homage a particular designer, it will always be noted.

A note as to sizing: I have decided, as I am sure many of you have, that in the fashion world sizing means less than nothing. Depending on the designer or brand, I fit into everything from a US size 4 to a 14, an Xsmall to an Xlarge. That's a big spread! Plus, my body shape is such that I often wear “petite” dresses even though I'm slightly taller than average height. All this makes shopping off the rack frustrating and time-consuming, and I know a lot of other women (and men!) have the same problem. So what does that mean for my sizing? Just this: I don't size. I measure. Measurements are the only real way to assure that a garment will fit, because every body, male or female, is different. Typically I give bust/waist/hips for women and chest/waist/length/sleeve for men, though it depends on the garment. That also means that I will ask for your measurements on custom work. Don't worry, I won't share or judge! And if you would like additional measurements on any vintage or pret-a-porter item, please let me know.

By 2020, it is estimated that mental illness will be the second leading cause of premature death and disability worldwide and that Major Depressive Disorder will be the leading cause of disability in the world for women and children*. Currently, suicide worldwide causes more deaths per year than homicide or war**. From my Biochemistry Collection I donate %10 of profits to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a non-profit, grass-roots organization committed to the eradication of mental illness and the improvement of the quality of life for the mentally ill and their families by providing support, advocacy, and education. As a nation, we are woefully unequipped to handle what is arguably the greatest medical epidemic that we face: half of all Americans will experience a brain, behavior, or addictive disorder at some point in their lives*, yet we spend more than 100 billion dollars every year on untreated mental illness***. Because of this, I have chosen to donate directly to NAMI’s Mind of America Foundation, which seeks to eliminate stigma and provide or improve access to mental health care in our country. To learn more, visit their website: www.NAMI.org. If you wish to make a 10% donation to NAMI from any item that you purchase, convo me and I will make that happen.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
PayPal is, I'm sure, everyone's preferred method of buying and selling, but I'm also happy to take a money order, cashier's check, or personal check. I will wait to ship on personal check sales until the check clears, however. All items shipped within Washington State are subject to a 9% sales tax, sorry.
Shipping
I typically ship USPS Priority Mail in flat-rate boxes or envelopes, so S&H depends primarily on size. Delivery confirmation and insurance is a little extra, but let me know if you'd like those features; they'll probably run you $2-3 depending on the cost of the item. I will happily combine items for shipping and if you live within the Seattle Metro area then I can always arrange for a personal pick-up. I will ship within 1-3 business days.
Additional policies and FAQs
ALLERGEN ALERT! Please be aware: these pieces come from a non-smoking location, but there are cats here. I do my best to keep the critters away from my work, but some dander will always get in. Let me know if you'd like any special arrangements in packing because of this.

I love to do custom work: let me know if you are interested in having something made just for you! This is a great way for men and women with body sizes or types that are less commonly catered to to get something beautiful and handmade, since most of the items listed on my page and many others' are "pret-a-porter" and sized to the average American small, medium, or large person.

If you are interested in featuring my work in your brick-and-mortar shop, please contact me for terms and availability.
