This is just a beautiful piece - I am in awe of Patti's skill in producing artwork of such quality. Truly unique and inspirational - photos sadly can never portray the beauty of the art which is why I was so happy to receive this piece! Thank you so much - arrived quickly and packaged perfectly. I will continue to admire this piece and Patti's work! :)

About

I think through my hands and making art is how I come to understand the world.

Welcome to Missouri Bend Studio! I opened this shop in 2010 as a way to bring the mixed media art I create to people across the world at an affordable cost. My work has always been made on an intimate scale and the works in Missouri Bend Studio represent a variety of my interests. Each work is unique. These one-of-a-kind pieces are not made in a production mode. There is an ongoing conversation, a kind of quiet listening that allows each piece to evolve in its own way. I belong in the studio and there is no place I'd rather be most days!

I have been making art for over thirty years and have exhibited nationally. I graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida in 1980 with a degree in Painting and began working at the college library as a cataloger. I continued to make art alongside my dream job of cataloging art books and working in an artistic community. During my 25 year stint there I was fortunate to work with some very fine folks, but eventually it was time to move on.

My husband, Johntimothy, and I relocated to South Dakota in 2005 where he is the Professor of Printmaking at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. We have built a house with plenty of studio space on the banks of the Missouri River where we continue to appreciate the beautiful setting with views across the river to the Nebraska bluffs.

Recently I've added Johntimothy as a maker here at Missouri Bend Studio. We have collaborated on a number of projects over the years and enjoy how our ways of working often complement one another. Under the Collaborations section of the shop, you'll find one-of-a-kind print based works that feature the blend of both of us in some unique works of art.

Hope you find the work interesting and engaging....thanks so much for browsing! Please feel free to contact me with questions or just to say hi!

Please stop by the website missouribendstudio.com for a closer look at my work and process. Visit the blog....better yet, subscribe! You can also subscribe to the new monthly newsletter there....subscribers receive a little more behind the scenes info and discounts on purchases!
