About

I think through my hands and making art is how I come to understand the world.

I have been making art for over thirty years and have exhibited nationally. I graduated from the Ringling School of Art and Design (now Ringling College of Art and Design) in Sarasota, Florida in 1980 with a degree in Painting and began working at the college in library as a cataloger. I continued to make art alongside my dream job of cataloging art books and working in an artistic community. The job grew and changed as I did and during my 25 year stint there I was fortunate to work with some very fine folks, helped to build an amazing collection and coordinate the purchase of the artist's book collection.

My husband, a printmaker, and I left Ringling in 2005 to come to South Dakota where he became Associate Professor of Printmaking at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. We built a house with plenty of studio space on the Missouri River where we continue to appreciate the beautiful setting with views across the river to the Nebraska bluffs.

I opened this shop in 2010 as a way to bring my work to people at an affordable cost. My work has always been rather small scale and intimate and the works in MissouriBendStudio represent a variety of my interests. Each work is unique....this is definitely not a shop where anything is made in production....I am an artist and the work evolves as I do and reflects my understanding of life as the days flow by, all too quickly.

Hope you find the work interesting and engaging....thanks so much for browsing! Please feel free to contact me with questions or just to say hi!

Thanks for browsing the works in MissouriBendStudio! You'll find only one-of-a-kind works of art here at Missouri Bend Studio, never reproductions. Please keep in mind that each piece is unique...I don't create work in mass quantities, so the artwork you buy is absolutely one-of-a-kind and yours alone!

Pieces are primarily with handmade paper or a variety of Japanese papers. A few works are on cradled panel, which need no framing and come ready to hang, others are framed in simple and elegant wood frames, but most are unframed.

Because the works are one-of-a-kind and do not all fall into the same size range, each piece is carefully packaged and should arrive to you in fine condition. In the event of a mishap, I will make every effort to resolve the issue as I want you to be happy with your purchase and working with me.

Please keep in mind that color variations and the often delicate marks within the works are subtle and are hard to capture to best advantage for the screen, so there may be slight variation between the view on your monitor and the actual work, but I assure you the actual work is always better and richer. I want you to be happy with your purchase, so if you have questions, please contact me right away.

Please enjoy browsing these works and feel free to contact me with questions.
Enjoy!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
Payment
I accept PayPal and money orders or cashier's check and will ship within two days after payment is received. Orders received on Friday will generally ship on the following Monday.
Shipping
Because all my work is one-of-a-kind and each a different size and shape, it is very difficult to assess shipping costs, so listed prices are estimation. I will never charge more than the stated price, even if my actual shipping costs exceed this amount. The work is delicate and I spend a lot of time packaging each work carefully and must figure out the appropriate materials and method for keeping each item safe for shipping. When appropriate, I can package two or more pieces in one shipment, but my first priority is to protect the work and ensure its safety. Please keep in mind that the shipping costs include actual shipping, plus some of my time and the cost of materials. I ship as promptly as possible after payment is received.

Domestic Shipping:
Packages will be sent First-Class Mail through the USPS. Items are carefully packed so they should arrive to your door in fine condition. If you desire expedited shipping or insurance, please contact me and arrangements can be made.

International Shipping:
Unframed items will be sent First Class International. Items will be carefully packaged to insure a safe arrival.
Refunds and Exchanges
I make every effort to package the pieces securely and they should arrive in fine condition, but if there is a problem with damage, please contact me upon receipt and we will work out a suitable arrangement. My goal is for you to be happy and enjoy the work long into the future, so will work to your satisfaction.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am happy to discuss custom orders! If you come across a piece that is sold, and you would like a new piece made in a similar fashion, please let me know. I am open to conversation about making a work that meets your desires.
