Moved to Newfoundland!
Welcome to my home, the only public herbal workshop, and pagan store, on the Rock!
It took me 15 years to get here.
I'm an apprenticed herbal healer with over 30 years of clinical experience, using applied anthropology to study and refine traditional remedies and technology. I've been on Etsy years before, working out of my fully equipped herbal lab in my home. But of course, it was always the dream to make a traditional training and retail facility to bring that information more up close and personal to those that seek it. Now, I have all that, but it wasn't easy getting here or finding a place to be.
My husband grew up in Newfoundland in the Codroy valley, just 30 minutes away from the main southern harbor in Port Aux Basques. Part of his experience is to cross on the ferry. I'm a prairie girl, and the oversea trip of 6 hours didn't sit well with my innards. I was also about 6 months pregnant, so I couldn't take the over the counter anti-nauseants sold on the boat. I'm not an experienced or great traveler, so it didn't occur to me to bring everything I *might* need with me, and I certainly didn't plan on seasickiness. I also assumed I could find the usual common products to deal with it as I went. Turns out, there was nothing anywhere near where we were going that would help me. Even though alternative health products and services are now in high demand and used in most of the world. So I decided if that was to happen in this area, it might have to be me.
I feel in love with the rugged beauty, and the ocean views. I knew I could make a new life being of real value in a new community, as well as still helping my international customers and students. So I spent 15 years making my argument to my husband to come with me. He waffled, and I waited, but in the end, I had to leave my home province of 40 years and journey across the country to make this happen. He's still in Alberta, though.
Now we are teaching seminars, I'm coordinating with the local herbalists and pagans to organize events and be an information hub about green and appropriate technology, as well as supplying and creating. Because of this space, and support of the already established producers and trainers, this area will grow to become known as a oceanside haven, teaching retreat, and consumer dream for self-healing, spirituality, and earth consciousness.
