Announcement   Welcome to my studio, Misty Mountain Forge™. My name is Erica and I am the maker/designer, metalsmith, photographer, and sole creative behind the hammer.

My designs are organic and rustic, perfectly distressed; Bohemian and carefree. Each piece of metalwork is hand fabricated with love. All of my stones are thoughtfully sourced for their aesthetics, quality and sometimes rarity. Each piece of jewelry from my studio is love-infused, adored and made to be cherished.

If you're shopping for unique wedding or engagement rings, one-of-a-kind gemstone jewelry, BOHO or Minimalist earrings or necklaces, forged metalwork or primitive and distressed leather bracelets and cuffs; you'll find it all here. I also craft rustic home decor as well as fancy things such as tags and memorials for beloved pets!

CUSTOM & PERSONALIZED REQUESTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

I love working with my customers to create the perfect piece of jewelry or special keepsake for any occasion. I give every order the highest attention to detail and caring, offer quick turn around and gift package each treasure with love.

I have a vast array of gems and materials in my collection so turn around time for custom creations is usually very quick once a design has been agreed upon. I provide design options and sketches when necessary and photos of the finished custom designs before they ship.

Production time is currently around 8-10 business days for custom work. Expedited requests can usually be accommodated. Please reach out to me prior to ordering if you are trying to meet a deadline or special occasion.

I wish the ring looked more like the one in the picture. It gives the impression of an old copper pipe. Doesn't have the character of the product photos. Just looks a little battered and old. My ring does not have any of the fine linear pattern shown in the photograph, which is what made us choose this ring over others. Would not reccomend.

Updates

This is just a sampling of some 7D (Seven Dwarfs Mine) gems I have available for custom setting. This material is rare and was only mined for a short time before the source was depleted.
New in the shop! Wild Horse Magnesite. This stone is no longer being mined in the US and is increasingly rare. What's out there is all that remains.
Bench tip: when it is cold or if you're encountering heat dissipation, building a little mini forge (or charcoal fort) helps retain your heat. It also helps to warm it with a torch before use.

About

A little about myself...

My name is Erica Lovesmith and I am the artist, metalsmith, and everything else behind the curtain here at Misty Mountain Forge™.

I have carried on a love affair with and collected rare and unique gemstones, minerals, fossils, random objects, and crystals since I was a very young child. I will forever be amazed by the colors and patterns the Earth produces.

I have been metalsmithing (self taught & a little help from my friends) for the past 5+ years and enjoy every moment my hammer hits the anvil. I started this journey on a whim with a piece of railroad track, a hammer and some scrap copper wire. I found that I am the happiest and most satisfied when I am able to freely create. I devoted my full time attention to honing my skills as a metalsmith and growing my business. I feel extremely humbled, blessed and thankful to be doing something that I love so much with my time while passing the love on to you; my supporters & friends.

A personal philosophy of mine is: "When we freely give to others everything we need is provided to us." I strive to support other artists and craftsmen, shop local when possible because I believe in supporting your fellows in the community first. I support organic farming and humane animal husbandry. I live my life as chemical free and as pampering to the Earth and my environment as possible. When you purchase from my shop you are also supporting these ideals and ways of life.

Outside of the studio I enjoy soaking up the local culture of Charleston, SC as well as Charlotte, NC, metal detecting, fossil & artifact hunting as well as camping and hiking. I love to dabble in poetry, culinary arts, wild food foraging & travel. I explore nature daily with my camera in hand. The small wonders of this Earth captivate me most. Getting lost in the details is so relaxing.

ABOUT MY PROCESS & MATERIALS:

I use natural gemstones and organic materials in my jewelry which come from reputable and skillfully sourced stone cutters and mines or are personally collected, hand hewn, cut or polished.

I do not use any dyed, chemically coated and altered "aura" crystals, or synthetics (unless recycled) in my work. I have a deep love and respect for nature, the planet and future generations so I take great care in the footprints I leave behind.

All metals are US sourced from recycled materials.

All animal products such as bone, leather, or feathers are legally and ethically sourced or found. I use natural cowhide leather, elkskin or buckskin as well as vegetable dyed leathers that are certified to be tinted with lead-free dyes. Vegan options are always available!

Quality customer service and craftsmanship are of utmost importance. All of my jewelry carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee as I truly treasure my creations just as you soon will.

CUSTOM REQUESTS:

Convo me on Etsy for any custom requests or inquiries. I enjoy working with my customers to create the jewelry of their dreams. I am always diligent and put a lot of love, attention and detail into every order.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Most anything in my shop can be customized or personalized. I also welcome custom orders and love working with my customers to create the perfect gift or special piece of jewelry. If you can dream it, I can make it! Convo me for details.

Sizing details

If you see a design in my shop that isn't your size convo me and I'll do my best to accommodate your needs. Buyer is responsible for providing correct ring sizes for custom merchandise orders. Keep in mind that thicker or wider bands or rings could require the wearer to wear a larger size than usual. I recommend stopping by a local jewelry store to get sized. It only takes a few minutes, is free of charge and will ensure you get the perfect fit! No worries if you order the wrong size. I offer resizing for rings without set stones for a flat rate of $25 plus return shipping.

Care instructions

Chemical cleansers are not recommended. To clean bare metals use a polishing cloth or organic ketchup to restore shine.

Applied patinas on jewelry are not permanent and will change and evolve with wear and surface contact. Keep your jewelry out of contact with water, lotions and cleaning chemicals to protect patinas. I recommend removing patinated jewelry before washing hands, bathing or strenuous activity where sweat will react with patinas.

Copper & patina jewelry should NOT be worn during heavy physical activity (work out, swimming, yard work, etc) to prevent harmless skin oxidation and to help retain patina. Keeping skin dry is key to prevention. If skin oxidation does occur, simply wash the area with soapy water.

Gift wrapping and packaging

My jewelry boxes are made in the United States of post consumer recycled paper. I carve my own stamps and personally apply the design to every box so that each is a work of art in itself!

If you have a particular color scheme to match please contact me for options. I love creative packaging and enjoy making the outside of the box as pretty as the contents inside.

Wholesale availability

As an artist and designer I take great pride in offering unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry that's made special for the individual ordering. For these reasons I do not offer wholesale or mass produce my work.
