Highly detailed handmade artwork created with passion

Hello! I love making detailed functional ware and sculpture using an ancient technique called sgraffito. The term originated from the Italian word "graffiare," which means "to scratch, mark or write" and is defined as "a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color."

I typically utilize a small needle and a loop tool to scratch away the colored surface to reveal the porcelain clay body underneath. I love the highly detailed and methodical nature of working this way. Each piece takes approximately 3-4 hours to create from start to finish.

I utilize this technique to create botanical scenes and landscapes, based on the world around me. For the past few years, I have been traveling across the United States in search of different opportunities to expand my work. So far I have spent time in Colorado, Arizona, California, Nevada , Wyoming, Montana, and am currently living in Northern New Mexico. I observe and sketch the plant and animal life I encounter during my travels and translate these designs onto my work. This allows me to document where I have been throughout my ongoing pilgrimage.

I hope you enjoy exploring my work as much as I do making it!
