I have always been a huge jewelry lover. Unfortunately I have always had expensive taste and usually couldn't afford the pieces that I desired most. I tried wire wrapping... honestly it wasn't for me. I found Steampunk and it hit me like a brick wall because I have ALWAYS been a collector of odd fascinating little trinkets of sorts. I also love all things mechanical... I ran into the usual problem... I couldn't afford it. Lets face it Steampunk is NOT cheap and understandably so.

Through my boyfriend Seans encouragement I decided to see what my brain could come up with. I decided to try my hand at making Steampunk jewelry, but make it as affordable as possible. I made a handful of pieces and my friends went crazy over it. I decided to go to a concert event parking lot and try to sell what I had on a piece of material covered cardboard....I actually sold stuff that way and I couldn't believe it!
So I took that money and bought more supplies and kept making pieces that kept selling. It keeps going on that way, I honestly don't pocket most of the money I turn it into new and more spectacular pieces.

The hardest part of what I do is finding the parts. I hand pick ALL of my movements. I only buy the best, cleanest parts. I also only buy my supplies from the USA! I take pride in supporting local business and hand crafting all of my pieces. I currently work a full time job, but I hope to one day be able to do this full time.

As of July 2012 I am proud to say Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil and Mia Tyler own and wear multiple pieces of Mechanique Steampunk!
