About

Mary Hopkins

I started my shop in 2007 after talking to my massage therapist about my quilting and how I thought it might be fun to sell some of my quilts. She told me about etsy and I checked it out. With my spouse Shara's help, I listed a few quilts, and waited to see what would happen!
In 2008 or 2009, I'm not completely sure which year, I was invited to join a team. That has been the best thing I have done for my shop! The exposure has been wonderful! I am now on tagt team-a treasury making team, and Quiltsy-a supportive team for quilters.
My creative process is that I find a design I like, usually from a book, magazine, or on-line. I think about what fabrics I would like to use. Then (one of my favorite parts) I go through my fabric stash and find fabrics to use in the design. I usually use a large number of fabrics in my quilts-for a scappy look. Once I have the fabrics chosen, the work of making the quilt top happens, usually slowly, and over several days. I have a design wall that the pieces are placed on as I go, so I can see how the quilt top is taking shape.
I love to make quilt tops, and have very many of them waiting to be quilted! The quilting is done on Bailey-my long arm. It is kind of hard for my still to figure out a design and execute it, and tends to be a slower part of the process. I have to think about it for awhile before committing to the quilting, as I don't want to mess up a nice quilt design! Yes, I have done that!LOL!

I fell in love with quilting many years ago. Over the years, I have been a stay at home mom, baker, student and nurse. Through it all, quilting has been the one thing I do for my own creative outlet and enjoyment.

Shop policies

Last updated on June 23, 2014
Welcome to my shop. I use 100% cotton items, unless otherwise stated. My fabrics are quilt shop quality. I enjoy sharing my quilts with others, and believe quilts are made to be used and enjoyed. The quilts are washable, and usable, and make great gifts.

Accepted payment methods

  • Money Order
Payment
I accept Pay pal or money orders. I will make sure the payment is through before I send an item. If you want to send a money order, I will have to recieve it before I send an item.
Shipping
I am revising my shipping policy as costs are becoming prohibitive, particularly international shipping! I will continue to offer free shipping within the USA, and will charge a flat fee for international shipping. The amount will be determined by the size of the item.
Refunds and Exchanges
If unsatisfied with an item, please send me a convo detailing the problem. I will then require the item to be shipped back to me, at your expense, and I can either send a refund or repair whatever problem exists.
Additional policies and FAQs
1. As stated before, all my items are made in a smoke free environment.
2. I do wash my quilts before sending them to their new home. I have dogs and cats, so I like to make sure no pet hair is on the quilt.
3. I can do custom orders, so if interested, convo me and together we can work out the details.
