I adore this little pot! Sweet little nuances with the glaze. Every time I looks at it I see something new and beautiful! Thank you Matt!

Raised in the wild to make pots about nature.

I grew up roaming the hardwood forests, meadows and prairies of rural Minnesota. This instilled in me a great and deep love for the natural world. I attended the University of Minnesota and studied ceramics gaining the technical and historical knowledge to make great pots. I did a brief stint in the military and am a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I then traveled to China and Japan to study traditional pottery techniques. In 2010 I began my current studio practice in Saint Paul, Minnesota and have been making pottery and murals for you ever since. I aim to preserve the natural world through imagery on ceramic objects. Along the way I have received various grants and awards to pursue the work.

P.S. I love gardening, making sauerkraut and ice fishing is a way of life.

Welcome to Matthew Krousey Ceramics and thanks for your interest in my work. All the imagery and surfaces are inspired by the natural landscapes of the midwest and rural America. It is my goal that you get to enjoy not only the food and drink held by my pots, but the landscape that inspired their creation with each use. The firing method I use (High Temperature Salt/Soda) creates beautiful varied surfaces and durable pots.

All work is made by me and is one of a kind.
