About

Letterpress. Design. General Tomfoolery.

MLK&toast was created in 2010 in a one bedroom apartment in Cambridge, MA after creator Megan L. King purchased a misfit press from Rob Charlton at Goosefish Press.

Shortly after acquiring the first press, MLK&toast went on a letterpress rampage and purchased 2 more presses, a paper cutter, a type cabinet, and a lot of small equipment before moving everything down south to Marietta, GA.

Before being able to do any actual printing, 2 presses- a Poco Proof Press No. 0 and a Chandler & Price Pilot Press (old style) had to undergo some "surgery" of the welding variety.

Once they were all bandaged up, MLK&toast was able to start printing and was on her way to owning and operating her very own printing company.

With the help of a successful kickstarter campaign, an internship at Hatch Show Print, a feature on Fab. moving into a legit studio space in Atlanta and a lot of local Artists Markets and Art shows, MLK&toast can see her dreams starting to be achieved.
