Handmade with eco friendly materials and packaging in Alaska by M. Martiniuk. If you have questions or ideas I would love to hear from you, always looking for input. I am always happy to accept layaway orders, just convo me to work out details.

Thank you for taking a minute to view my work! Everything here is handmade, featuring hand formed ceramic and glass. I love to play in the fire and need lots of excuses to do so. I try to use recycled or natural materials whenever possible and order materials from vendors on Etsy and components made in the US. All packaging is made from recycled product.

I have been working in ceramics for more than 30 years and using the raku firing method for 19+ years. About 7 years ago I started making the hand crafted ceramic essential oil or perfume diffuser jewelry and am still loving it! When wearing an aromatherapy necklace, scents will radiate in your aura with your natural body warmth and surround you with your choice of essence or restorative oils. You will almost almost always find me wearing one because I love them so much and am constantly testing new designs and ideas.

I hope you (or someone you love) will come away with something today, that you will get lots of compliments on and be so happy with the experience that you will shop with me again in the future. If you ever have a problem with an order, I am always happy to work with you to straighten it out, I like to keep happy lifetime customers.

Everything goes out USPS First Class or Priority Mail. Feel Free to convo or email me with any questions you may have. All jewelry items will arrive with a factory recycled gift box and nice product description card ready for gift giving, no need to rewrap.

This may possibly be the most beautiful piece of jewelry I've ever purchased. I bought this for myself. The colors are even more amazing in person. It looks like it glows. Hands down, an absolutely gorgeous piece of jewelry. 💜 The picture doesn't do it justice!

About

I am passionate about upholding the public opinion of the "Arts" and early education.

I really love the fact that the people at Etsy have given so many individuals an outlet for the artistic inspiration they may find and a way to enable active appreciation and interaction. It is awesome that more people are buying and using handmade items in their everyday lives. It is also fantastic to think that we are given the opportunity to instantly view and purchase work from creative makers around the world.

MY PROCESS OF DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND MARKETING: I work alone in the making of all of my products at this time, although I would love to work with other artists on special projects, there never seems to be enough time to initiate them. I do the designs, patterns, planning, assemblage and marketing for all of the glass, ceramic and fabric products you find here. Most of my work is done with a nature inspired theme. Actively living in remote Alaska gives me opportunity to observe the immensity of importance of Mother Nature and her positive influence on our lives.

DICHROIC GLASS:
Multiple ultra-thin layers of different metal oxides (gold, silver, titanium, chromium, aluminum, zirconium, magnesium, silicon) are vaporized by an electron beam in a vacuum chamber. The vapor then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. This is sometimes followed by a protective layer of quartz crystal. The finished glass can have as many as 30 to 50 layers of these materials yet the thickness of the total coating is approximately 30 to 35 millionths of an inch (about 760 to 890 nm). The coating that is created is very similar to a gemstone and, by careful control of thickness, different colors are obtained.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT MY RAKU WORK: There is something very alluring about the feelings evoked by the idea of our Ancients working around a firepit using the basic earth elements in the fire to create functional and beautiful works of art.

When you receive your raku work it will often still carry a mere hint of the heavenly perfume of the origin of its life, mineral, fire and smoke. All of my pieces are scrubbed heavily with a metal scouring pad in hot detergent water and reheated to 180 degrees to clean the work as much as possible after firing. The raku work has been through some amazing transformations of torture in the kiln, flame and some residual smokey scents are often an integral part of the work until it has had a chance to breath in the air environment for a few days or more after its creation. I will list and often sell a piece within weeks or days within its birth, and the lingering scents will remain for a short time until it has a chance to air out for a little longer. If you find it too offensive you can plan to set it aside out of your regular living area until it has had an opportunity to become a more agreeable member of society.

I also have another Etsy venue at DIYDigitalArt.etsy.com featuring DIY Digital Printable art for gifts, home decor, scrapbooking craft and small business.

Be sure to also check out my daughter's shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/JessicaCoxJewelry She does timeless and classic jewelry in precious metals and gemstones. Beautiful work!

Thank you for shopping small business and hand made.

I remember seeing a piece of Raku Pottery in a gallery somewhere when I was a little person, and thinking WOW, that is what I want to do. I still feel the same way about it every time.

What is Raku Ceramic

The term Raku refers to a rapid firing technique, adapted from ancient Japanese firing traditions. Most of the work I do is done with hand building techniques. Wet clay is formed into the desired shape and or finished and left to dry for up to 2 days before going on to the first firing stage. Pieces are then bisque fired, glazed, and taken in the molten red hot stage to be Raku fired. This requires bringing the kiln to a temperature of 1800 degrees F. and taking each piece individually to the Raku firing container for the final part of the process. The resulting combustion in the Raku environment brings metals in the glaze to the surface and is always unpredictable and beautiful.

Sustainable Product Materials

Many of my pieces have a heavy nature influence. Use of real plant inspired products gives us all an opportunity for reflection and thoughtfulness for the importance that Mother Nature has in all of our lives and I love being able to make for you treasured nature tokens to use in your daily routines.

Hemp, silk, cotton, copper, brass, bronze, tin, silver, earth clay, glass, river stones and naturally formed ore and minerals are the material focus for most of my jewels.
