Announcement   Hi! My name is Laura and I am a goldsmith, designer, entrepreneur, and all around crafter. I have a "mad love" for vintage, and a crazier love for shiny things. Most recently, I opened my first brick+mortar in Tigard, Or where I host jewelry and plant workshops, house my jewelry and crafting studio, and have a community shop to showcase my local and vintage finds. If you are in the area, come check me out at:

Shop Update: I will soon be combining my Etsy Shops and closing my second one:
Model Institution 2 www.modelinstitution2.etsy.com

Shipping materials: buying glass products online from a small business can be scary, but rest assured I pack all of my items in boxes that fit the item plus some room for cushioning. Additionally, I recycle most of most of my shipping material from wholesale orders and reuse it when shipping customers' orders here on Etsy. REMEMBER: If someone is shipping glass, it should always be insured the least amount of hassle for the customer. If you have any questions regarding shipping, please reach out. [I ship USPS or FedEx]

About

We just opened our first brick+mortar in Tigard, OR! We are busy, motivated, and ready to start listing items again on or Etsy shop

My flagship store, MODEL iNSTITUTION, came to exist after my wedding. I had a lot of milk glass, vintage brass, vintage clear glass pieces, and vintage brass frames after all was said and done.

I learned that vintage does not mean kitschy or shabby chic if you do not want it to. Vintage is the reducing, reusing, and recycling of consumer goods. Once you get to know the different time periods and the styles alive in them, you realize that most home decor concepts that cycle through even now are based on originals of the 20th century, only the items from the 20th century were made better than those today.

Buy with:
Reason. Purpose. Thoughtfulness. Efficiency.

Each Sale helps keep my local brick+mortar get off the ground. Like everyone tells me, starting and maintaining a business is a lot of hard work, but it is also a lot of fun with so much opportunity to dig deep in the community. Thanks for looking and taking the time to read this!

Frequently asked questions
What should the customer do if the item arrives damaged or broken?

Please contact the shop immediately. We are always looking for ways to improve shipping! We do not know of any broken packages (yet), but in the case it does happen, we would like to know.

If the item is shipped domestically through USPS Priority mail, shipping insurance is included with that shipment. You would need to seek reimbursement through USPS within their guidelines.

While we try to purchase insurance for First Class Mail and Ground, if anything happens to your package or item during shipment, please contact us so we can make sure you have all the information you need to make a claim.

How does Model Institution treat Pyrex?

We package items very meticulously. Items are shipped with insurance regardless of USPS priority mail or retail ground status. Due to Pyrex's weight, we regularly ship ground (as is the case with mixing bowl and casserole sets), and that package is insured separately (whereas Priority mail it is already included in the cost).

Pyrex, due to its weight, is not returnable. I only ship domestically for these items, but exceptions can be made. Please send a message if interested.
