About

Modern Family Cards are expressions of love for all modern families

Have you ever experienced the lack of cards available for step, blended or non-traditional families? In a world with millions of different greeting cards it is still very difficult to find a card to say thanks for someone such as a foster parent, a loving neighbour who is more like family or a step mum or step dad.

On one level, it isn’t surprising. Card manufacturers cling tightly to the stereotype of nuclear families, where the sentiments are sweet and sugar coated. Yet, there are officially more blended / step / non-traditional families in the western world, then there are nuclear families.

Anyone who has ever been through a divorce, or is a step mum or dad knows it is no bed of roses. There can be such mixed emotions, such baggage, such joys and disappointments. But, in order to rise about this, it is important to give our kids the skills to communicate affectionately, and have their voice heard.

Children of all ages are yearning for positive ways to express the love they feel for the people in their lives. But they also don’t want to hurt their parents feelings, say the ‘wrong’ thing or ignore someone dear to them.

Modern Family Cards support step kids, step brothers and sisters, step mums, step dads, step grandparents, blended, surrogate, adopted, gay, foster and other modern families, to affectionately communicate with each other, on any occasion.
