How Monarch Glass and More came to be...
I have been working with stained glass since 1995, having learned the craft from my late father (he took it up in the late 70s). I worked in my parents' glass shop from 1996 to 2000, and started my own home-based business in January of 2001.
Back in the summer of 1985 when my uncle was dying, a friend of his wrote him a poem about butterflies and how he would soon have 'freedom to fly like a butterfly'. A year later, another uncle died suddenly. For my grandmother and the rest of the family, monarch butterflies were reminders of Jack and Ken. In the mid 90s, after I had started working with stained glass, my aunt asked if I could make a little butterfly suncatcher that looked like a monarch, and so began my little business...

Owner, Creator, Photographer
I am 43, married to David for 13 years, and mother to 3-and-a-half-year-old Katarina. I have lived in Windsor, Ontario since 2005.
All of my stained glass is made by me using the copper foil method. I have been working with stained glass since 1995, having learned the craft from my late father. I worked in a glass shop from 1996 to 2000, and started my own home-based business in January of 2001.
My favourite pieces to make are the hand-painted monarch butterflies, which I have been selling since 1997.
Custom orders are welcome. Most of my items on Etsy are small suncatcher-type pieces that are easy to ship, but I do windows, lamps, stepping stones, etc. too.
Accepted payment methods
Please understand that I have no control whatsoever over how long shipping takes. If you are outside of Canada, your parcel has to go through Customs, which can delay things. Mail is much slower during the holiday season, so expect delays then, too. US/International buyers: Don't order a made-to-order item expecting it on your front porch in two weeks, because it isn't going to happen. I can get most items mailed out in less than a week, but after it is mailed, it is up to the postal service to do its job.
Canada-bound items will be shipped via 'Regular Parcel' and will take approximately 2-7 business days from day of shipment depending on your location. Cost includes tracking and insurance. Shipping cost assumes you live in Vancouver, BC (the most expensive place in Canada for me to ship). I will refund any overage.
As of December 22nd, 2015; US-bound items will be shipped via 'Tracked Packet USA' and will take approximately 4-7 business days from day of shipment (unless held up in Customs, or during the holiday season). Cost includes tracking and insurance. I have had to switch to this more expensive method of shipping due to buyers not reading my policies/listings thoroughly and thinking they are paying for tracking when in fact they aren't. Shipping cost for larger/heavier items hasn't changed much, but shipping smaller items is quite a bit more expensive with tracking and insurance. Please note that multiple smaller items can be shipped together for the same cost. I will refund any overage.
Items shipped outside Canada and the US will be shipped via 'Tracked Packet International' and will take approximately 6-10 business days from day of shipment (unless held up in Customs, or during the holiday season). Cost includes tracking and insurance. This service is only available to buyers in the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland,
France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United
Kingdom. Buyers in countries not listed above should contact me for a shipping quote. I will refund any overage.
'Made To Order' items may take up to a week to ship (especially if it is one of the hand-painted pieces). I have a busy three-year-old, so I only have an hour or two free each day to work on glass.
I am an excellent packer. I have had very little breakage in the 15 years I've been selling online (a half dozen items out of well over a thousand shipped). I buy proper shipping boxes, bubble wrap, foam sheets, Styrofoam peanuts, and tissue paper to pack my glass. Please let me know if you have a problem with me using Styrofoam peanuts to package your order. Please contact me about any problems with your order BEFORE leaving your review.
Please note that import duties, taxes, and other related charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are your responsibility. If you change your mind about the order due to Customs charges, and it is sent back to me, you will be refunded purchase price only, minus any return postage I have to pay when it is sent back to me.
I will not undervalue my stained glass or claim as 'gift' on Customs forms.
Local buyers (Essex and Kent Counties, and Detroit area) may use coupon code LOCALPICKUP (no charge for shipping) if you would like to pick up your stained glass here in Windsor instead of having it shipped to you.
Refunds and Exchanges
Please contact me about any problems with your order BEFORE leaving your review so I can make things right.
Additional policies and FAQs
I was able to purchase a large quantity of the metal castings I use at a discount many years ago. I am getting low on a few of the bodies, some of which are no longer available to purchase. As I run out of these bodies, replacing them (if I am able) will cost me quite a bit more than what I paid back in 2003, so sadly I will have to raise the prices on a few of my items in the near future.
If you are purchasing as a gift, let me know, as I would be happy to ship directly to the recipient.
A discount is offered if you would like a large quantity of something. Contact me for a price, and I will put up a custom listing for you. Coupon codes cannot be used with wholesale discounts.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my policies! Please take 5% off your order using the coupon code POLICIES5. :)
