Announcement   Welcome to the monART Studio Etsy site!
The process of creating these prints has been so magical for me, I can't help but enter each printing session with a state of wonder. There are so many ways to manipulate the printing plate and also different approaches in the method of printing. For instance, each print can be completely unique by washing the plate clean in between each pull. Or you can allow the ink to build up, not washing away any ink residue left from the last print. What you will get is part new color and imagery and part old. This is where the excitement comes in, because the juxtaposition of old and new is rather random. These are the prints that I love the most! They are detailed, multi-layered and filled with content. One print leads to another and another and before you know it, you have a type of series...brother, sister, cousin prints, if you will. They are powerful hanging in a group but still retain their beauty if hanging solo.
It is my hope that you enjoy strolling through my shop, maybe even get a little inspired to be creative yourself!"

About

Capturing Bliss...One Artist's Story

I have been an artist throughout my life and have worked with almost every medium known to man. I would teach myself some new craft and once I had mastered the technique, the inevitable would happen....boredom would set in and I would be off again, trying to find something that would feed my soul.

Enter monotype printing....did I die and go to artist heaven, did I have a dream where I spent 16 hours a day in my studio and found that that just wasn't enough time, or did I ingest some great hallucinogen that simply tricked me into believing that I had finally found my medium?
I am happy to report that I didn't have to die, dream or ingest a thing and yet all of the above is true. Monotype printing has captured my heart, imagination and soul like no other technique ever has. How do I express the bliss I feel while printing in my studio?

Runner's high, (substitute printer's for runner's), maybe one with the universe, or how about total centeredness (just made up that word)?
Yes, my cup doth runneth over!
Monotype printing has a serendipitous nature that pulls one into the process. It is both painting and printing and therefore provides constant stimulation. There is a magic that happens between the printing plate, the paper and ink that is impossible to duplicate with any other medium. I feel as though I have only scratched the surface of what is possible. So I would like to invite you on this journey with me as I explore, learn and create. I will be posting often and would love sharing, input and dialog.

monART Studio offers unique monotype prints in a variety of colors and imagery. My style of printmaking incorporates a loose definition of subject matter, which allows the viewer to have their own interpretation of the prints. They are highly detailed because I generally over-print each piece at least once, sometimes more. Because they are printed one after another, they have a connection to each other and therefore make a powerful statement when hung in a group. But they also maintain their beauty hanging solo.
My palette is inspired by contemporary sensibilities using soft hues and splashes of contrasting color, which lend themselves to many interior environments. These monotypes are a perfect solution for both residential and commercial spaces.
