I purchased this print for a wedding gift and I couldn't be happier with it. As soon as I told Monica what I was looking for, she gave me suggestions and accommodated requests so that the gift was completely original and authentic. It's so great to buy art directly from the artist and learn the story behind the photo. n nSorry about the photo I took. It's not the best but it still illustrates how gorgeous this print is.

About

My passion, my work, and my offerings.

Welcome to Monica Miles Photography! Now offering Collage and custom Empathic Collage sessions.

About me:
My love for the art of photography began at age 3, when I was shown a black and white photograph that my father had developed himself in a darkroom with film and paper (yes, old school style!). The beauty of a hand-developed black and white photograph is still so captivating and inspiring. In Highschool I set up a darkroom in our basement on top of our washer and dryer and spent hours and entire days discovering my talent.

Collage:
Photography is very dear to my heart and soul. I incorporate photography into my spiritual practice as a way to work with images on a deeper, soul work level. The images that I produce in my Collage catalog are infused with a specific intention using empathy and a deep connection with spirit. Using my skills of claircognizance, I create images of deep meaning and intention, images that can be used on your alter, with your own mantras or affirmations, intention setting, and working with the depths of your soul to your pleasing.

Empathic Collage Sessions:
Along with Collage, I offer a custom experience using one-on-one empathy phone sessions based on the teachings of Nonviolent Communication developed my Marshal Rosenburg (for more information visit the Center for Nonviolent Communication at cnvc.org). I then create an image that is just for you at this point in your spiritual journey, using my skills of claircognizance and intuition, along with my own work with the ritual, Tarot, animal imagery, and intention infusing to assist me in spiritual direction.

Empathy reflecting the teachings of Nonviolent Communication:
I have been studying Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for over six years individually and with the international NVC community. During this time I have learned vital skills of self empathy, empathy for others and compassionate thinking and reasoning. This has evolved into a deep spiritual practice in which my photography art is created.

The NVC practice:
The term 'Nonviolent Communication' is also known as compassionate communication. In my understanding, the idea is that our choice of words in the language we use to speak to and about others and ourselves, directly effects the violence of our communities. In embodying compassion we see that all humans have the same feelings and needs, and that there are creative and loving solutions to anything we may see as a problem. When speaking through compassion to ourselves and others, violence is not an option to meeting our needs.

This is a mindfulness practice that takes time, and not at all a dogmatic or strict set of rules in how to talk. Everything and everyone is seen with compassion at all times to the best of our abilities.

My favorite quote from Marshal Rosenburg's book Nonviolent Communication (cnvc.org) is this:
"Regardless of our many differences, we all have the same needs. What differs is the strategy for fulfilling these needs."

What happens in an Empathic Collage Session?
During the one-on-one phone call empathy session, I use my natural abilities of claircognizance, along with my trained skills of empathic listening that is nonjudgmental and compassionate. I assist you in finding an intention or topic of focus by helping you to find clarity in your thoughts and needs. I help you to connect with your body, mind, and soul so that you are able to make a choice for the spiritual direction in which you would like to invoke. This may be for healing, de-stressing, bringing clarity to questions, creating more magic in your life, or any other intention that may serve your greater self.

This work is strongly based on the practice that you are in charge of your own soul work, honoring your unique feelings and needs, and proceeding at your own pace and sense of timing that meets the needs of your higher self.

This is a wonderful way to document your journey, have a visual representation of where you are in your life or where you would like to go, to help manifest something that you have been yearning for in life, or to answer a current question in which you would like to gain clarity and insight.

Please contact me if you have any questions!
I look forward to working with you and sharing my love of photography, Nonviolent Communication, empathy, and soul work. I'm happy to discuss any questions you may have.
