Werewolf pups are influenced by the immediate. Also the good, the bad, the tedious, leftovers, hand-me-downs, incidentals, and whatever else they encounter while in pursuit of nourishment. Given that sister Flopsy refused to answer to the names Mopsy and Cottontail for obvious reasons, and that Mopsy refused to answer to the latter for the same, the third triplet made do with the leftover, and is now Cottontail. He delivers neither alcoholic beverages with bunny ears clipped to his head nor does he deliver eggs be they chocolate, coconut, or the real deal. A ‘good’ eater, he gulps them down instead, including the bunny carrying the basket if truth be told. He is what he is and he shares. Like his creator, he’s a veritable role model during this season of Thanksgiving. Thank you for the reminder, Tami.

Werewolves are masters of subterfuge, and use it to acquire food, shelter, and a date without unnecessarily depleting their reserves. By naming her triplets Flopsy, Mopsy, & Cottontail, their mother gave her children a head start for the simple reason that it’s never too early to cultivate the psychological benefit of the doubt. In the future, if and when a judge hears their names, the monikers Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail will pack an entirely different punch than Atilla, Arnold, & Axelrod. Once again, Tami pays homage to mother love and life itself, while gently introducing us to the ways of the world as it pertains to the disenfranchised & Canis lupus cutest. Her dolls exist in the same realm as the best ever made. They are much beloved and true companions.

Werewolves identified by age as adolescent & by career as students, find themselves in the never, never-land that the rest of us call junior high. It’s a place where no one wants to linger, & a time defined by rumors & foreboding unimpeded by truth. As copies of OUR WEREWOLF BODIES, OUR SELVES collect dust in their dens, the youngsters rely on their peers for the lowdown on the facts of life and how to cope with ‘the change’ thus learning about lunar scheduling the hard way. Enslaved by monthly cycles similar to those of us susceptible to PMS, their method of engagement is Mano a Mano, or more accurately Mano a Anyone. Hence we cut them a little slack when the moon is full, even as we run for our lives, a win-win experience since we overheat and reduce our need for fossil fuels. Tami thinks of everything.

Now that the festivities are over and I can't spill secrets and spoil surprises, I’m able to send very sticky and profuse thanks from our trick or treaters for their namesakes. As grateful and impressed as I am for Tami Johnson’s creations, it pales beside the appreciation expressed by her younger fans, the future caretakers of Tami Johnson’s legacy. Jack o’lantern lights may go out for another year, but Tami’s light will go on for generations to come.

Monsters with a splash of funky humor and a story to tell.

I am a Monster illustrator, doll artist, and diorama maker from Montana. B-Horror and classic horror movies and folklore are the main inspirations for my artwork.

I started when I was given a box of moth eaten antique paper and silk lanterns and severely water damaged and moth eaten antique bridal gowns and tuxedos. I was astounded by the history and quality of the materials. I couldn't bear to throw them away, so I created something new. I started with the skeleton couples made from antique bridal gowns and tuxedos. I was hooked. At that time, I was in two local galleries and in local art shows.
Then, I joined the local roller derby team and became enamored with illustration. I created several of the derby posters for the team . I loved the genre of artwork and was agin hooked. The dioramas then evolved as the next step from the monsters and illustrations.

I imagine all of the fabric and mixed media materials I use as having their own lore to tell along with all my constant daydreaming. My artwork is intended to visually tell my interpretation of those stories with a twist of cheesy humor.
