Making Handmade Montessori

My name is Karla Norgaard and I have been involved in Montessori education since I was a child. I went to Montessori school through 8th grade. I live in Minneapolis, MN and my two children go to the same school I went to as a child!

I studied Computer Engineering in college and worked as an engineer for 2 years before realizing that I wanted to be a Montessori teacher. I took my AMI Primary training (ages 3-6) in 2005 and my AMI Assistants to Infancy training (pre-natal to age 3) in 2010. I have been working in Montessori education since 2005. I currently guide a parent-child Montessori class through the Montessori Training Center of Minnesota and work as an AMI/USA Consultant for Primary classrooms.

I get to mix my two passions - Montessori education and sewing - with this shop! I learned to sew in high school home economics class and picked it up again during my Montessori Primary training. I've been sewing Montessori materials ever since. I opened this shop in 2009 after AMI/USA consultant Dr. Silvia Dubovoy came to my classroom, admired my handmade materials, and said I should start selling them!
