moocowhandknits is taking a short break
Living in the land of knittedness
moocow is basically an outlet for me to feed my yarn habit. I have to admit that perhaps unusually, I rarely wear my own creations; it's the knitting I enjoy, and there's only so much knitwear one person can own.
Despite my mum knitting in front of me practically all my life, I was never interested until I had to have 6 months off work to recover from some very aggressive surgery. One of my district nurses had started going to a knitting group locally and she used to show me her progress on various projects. One day out of boredom I decided to borrow a book from her and buy a ball of wool and some needles, and the rest, as they say, is history.
There isn't anything particular behind the shop name, I just like the word moocow, and before I started I already had a stylised doodle of a logo, which a kind friend adobe illustrated into the brand you see today. moocow has now become a huge part of my life - about half the people I know now call me 'moo' lol.
My day job as a product manager is massively, hugely, unbelievably time consuming and stressful, and I often work 12 hour days or more, and can spend up to 7 hours a day in my car, driving up and down the country. I use the time to daydream up new things to knit.
Everything you see in the shop is a result of some random daydream or other (and occasionally a whole lot of faffing about with Microsoft excel, which is great for fairisle patterns!). The models are me and 'mr moo' as he is most commonly known, standing in the corner of our bedroom, and photographed using a bog standard digital compact camera - so forgive us the odd bad one :)
I hope my customers love wearing my creations as much as I love making them. I doubt if I will ever stop.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
I learned to knit from a borrowed book when I was 30, and have spent the intervening years wondering what I did with my time before. By day I work in a very full time job in medical diagnostics.

Additional policies and FAQs
All the items in my shop are knitted from my own designs (and sometimes I just make them up as I go along). Any resemblance to anyone else's designs is purely coincidental and unintentional :)
Images may be used in blogs and on websites with my pleasure - however please credit me and link back to my shop :)
I like to know that my items have arrived safe and sound, and a note to that effect or a positive feedback is always welcome! Please contact me immediately if you are unhappy about anything.
Custom orders are always welcome on listings that specify custom orders are available. Just drop me a line and let me know what you'd like, and I'll see what I can do!
