I am doing what I love: Making beautiful things!
((If you came here looking for my craft overflow, yarns, sewing patterns, and vintage items, they are now available in my second Etsy shop MoodStrings Surplus -- www.etsy.com/shop/MoodStringsSurplus))
I started MoodStrings as a way of sharing the things I am compelled to make. Mid-life multiplied my already diverse moods, and I found it difficult to remain faithful to any one craft. I started by sewing pillow covers and aprons, and now I've added bags and quilts to the mix. Many of my creations have crochet or knit embellishments, hand embroidery, or hand quilting. I love to mix textures, colors, and crafts!
I make everything myself, either by hand, or on my ordinary Singer sewing machine. It's not one of those big, fancy computerized machines, but I love it, and it works for me. I don't work from patterns, usually nothing more than a sketch. My "drafting tools" are rulers, scissors, and rotary cutters. I am often inspired by something beautiful I've seen on the internet, or hanging from a fellow shopper's shoulder, but more often by items I love and use every day. I never make exactly the same thing twice. I bore easily, and repetition is detrimental to my mental health.
I am having fun with my shop, and I hope you do too!
