About

Cloth inspired by nature

I began weaving in the late 1980's when I was still working full time. My partner and I had the luxury of taking our vacation in bits and pieces, so we signed up for a weaving class at San Francisco City College. It was held on Friday afternoons, so we took a half day of vacation on Fridays for two semesters. It was great fun and we soon joined the Blacksheep Handweavers Guild in Palo Alto, which gave us the opportunity to meet many weavers and mentors.

Since those early years, we have both acquired looms and I bought my first 24 shaft AVL loom in 1999 when we moved to Nevada City, CA (after retiring). It is a large loom, capable of much complexity and is resides in a studio beneath the house. We also have two smaller looms upstairs, just so we won't have to be content with just one thing on the loom at a time.

I weave shawls, scarves and towels and the occasional piece of yardage. I sell here on Etsy, but also at an online shawl business and a couple of local craft fairs.

I'm active in the Reno Fiber Guild (Reno, Nevada) and also Complex Weavers, which is an international weaving organization.

I have several passions in life, but the one that captures much of my time is weaving. I have several looms and weave a variety of kinds of cloth on each and I specialize in complex weave structures and original design work.
