5 out of 5 starsI love these scarves, I have to say they never go out of style, I was making these exact scarves over 35 years go, and they still make a statement, lost some patterns and so glad I searched and found them once again....

About MoonandSixpenceKnits
Classic, colorful hand-knits for everyone!
The name of my shop comes from the title of a Somerset Maugham novel, *The Moon and Sixpence*, which is very loosely based on artist Paul Gaugain's life in Tahiti. The title is never entirely explained in the book itself but Maugham wrote later in life that "If you look on the ground in search of a sixpence, you don't look up, and so miss the moon." The name reminds me not to take the small irritations of life so seriously and to never forget the importance of simple beauty and awe.
MY OTHER SHOP
I also run a small cross-stitch company called Wordsmith Designs. If you are interested in cross stitch based on literary themes, please check out my shop at wordsmithdesigns.etsy.com. Thank you.

My favorite quote from the novel is: "Beauty is something wonderful and strange that the artist fashions out of the chaos of the world." Sounds like the perfect quote for hand-crafters everywhere!
