ALL SALES ARE CONSIDERED FINAL. Items are sold on an "as is" basis, and, due to the nature of vintage items, we cannot accept ANY refunds or exchanges, and we do not normally offer in-shop credit or discounts outside of scheduled sales. Thank you!
We accept Paypal or Direct Check out!

Unless you wish to arrange a RESERVE (in which case you can certainly convo us), immediate payment is expected.

If you are new to Etsy and need help figuring out checkout:

Please note that we normally only reserve items for 24-48 hours MAX. If you wish to reserve for longer duration, please contact us to discuss layaway options (which requires commitment towards the item in the form of a deposit to hold the item).

LAYAWAY for 1-2 months is available for some of the higher priced items in the shop or for larger orders. Send a convo for more on how to proceed with either a fixed or pay-as-you-go style layaway option. Please be advised that a layaway is a binding contractual agreement between buyer and seller, which means that if a buyer defaults on a layaway by failing to pay their balance in full by the end of the agreed upon layaway period, we reserve the right to relist layaway items for sale in the shop. ALSO, any & ALL funds previously paid by the buyer towards this layaway (including deposit used to initiate layaway) will be kept by The Moon River Mercantile Co. as penalty for layaway default and to cover restocking fees & lost business income caused by the default.
All items are normally shipped within 2-3 business days of order placement. Shipping is normally handled via Canada Post's small packet air mail, which comes with NO tracking numbers or insurance. If you wish to purchase a method of shipping which provides insurance and tracking, contact us before or just after checkout so we can arrange to invoice you for higher shipping rates.

In Canada, parcels are normally delivered within 5 business days, and U.S.A./international deliveries take 6-14 business days, though delays can occur due to postal or border service procedures. We recommend expecting your shipment to arrive in 2-3 weeks, especially if you are an international buyer. For faster shipping methods, please contact me BEFORE purchase, so we can adjust shipping costs accordingly.

Contact us for a quote on combined shipping discounts which may be available, but depends on location, shipping method, etc.

Outside of the postal insurance info listed above, or if a buyer opts for an uninsured mode of shipping, The Moon River Mercantile Co. is not responsible for items/packages lost or damaged during or after shipment, or delays in shipping time due to customs, etc. Buyers are reminded that they are responsible for paying any customs-related duties or taxes related to their parcels.
    Additional policies and FAQs
Although we do our best to only sell vintage pieces that have been found in excellent/great/good condition, all of the items sold by The Moon River Mercantile Co. are vintage, which means that even items in excellent condition are likely to show minor signs of wear, as they have been loved before. As well, in some cases, every time an item is touched, tried on, or handled, new "beauty marks" can emerge. Wherever possible we do our best to ensure imperfections are minor and described to the best of our knowledge. However, once in a while we may miss small flaws such as minor loose seams, tiny holes or very small or faint stains. We are human after all & sometimes flaws can hide in folds & such. Due to the nature of vintage items, ALL items in the shop are sold AS IS, and are therefore a final sale, so please ask all questions and request any extra photos of items prior to purchase.

    Condition Rating Guidelines
Please keep in mind that most of our vintage items are 60 or so years old and will have normal typical vintage general wear from cleaning, age, etc.. The older an item, the more one needs to moderate one's expectations regarding the flawlessness of the item (Example: a 1920s dress made of silk that is structurally sound but has some age-related foxing may be considered EXCELLENT by vintage standards, while a 1940s rayon dress with underarm discoloration may only get a very good to good rating...this is because we try to factor in things like age of item relative to fabric content and scarcity when using the chart below to determine price and condition rating).

    Vintage Condition Rating Chart

    Mint/Perfect: Self explanatory. Rare!

Excellent: Item is structurally very sound and presents beautifully for an item of its age, but on closer inspection, may be held back from being mint by only one or two noted minor age or wear flaws; these "flaws" do not ultimately compromise the beauty or wearability of the item, but do deter it from being called MINT

Very Very Good to Very Good: Item may have one or two more minor flaws/condition issues than an Excellent item, but it is still structurally sound, still presents very well aesthetically speaking, and thus is in generally wearable and attractive condition for a vintage item of its age.

Good: Garment sold with a few noted flaws (some more visible than others) (i.e., colour fading and a couple of mend points), but still in wearable condition, though more care may be needed while wearing, cleaning, or storing than better condition items. "Good" items may have life left in them, but are less structurally sound and the wearer will have to be okay with the more visible aesthetic issues that normally show up on "good" vintage items vs. the visual presentation of mint or excellent or very good items.

Fair: Numerous noted flaws, some significant, possibly repairable/wearable, but item may be one or two wears away from becoming best used for costumes or patterns OR even with repairs, will never be able to be brought to mint or even excellent condition.

Poor: An honest piece damaged beyond repair or wearability with value ONLY for study, salvage, pattern, etc.

If you are unsure and/or have a question about the size or appearance or condition of an item, do contact me PRIOR to purchase and I will gladly send you more pictures or take additional measurements. It is important that you ensure your item is well suited for you prior to purchase. Please double-check and compare the listing size and your own size to get the best fit (the measurements of the garment should generally be larger than your own, depending on desired fit, etc).

    Shoe sizing:
Remember that vintage shoes can tend to be narrower than modern shoes, so look at measurements carefully. Remember your foot length and width should be slightly smaller than those of the shoe.
