The Making of Moonwalker Things

Moonwalker Things are made by Rachel Walker Youngblade in Oakland, California. Crafted by hand out of kiln-fired and polymer clay, my jewelry and home things mix organic shapes and textures with modern, geometric patterns and colors. Each item is unique and inspired by the craziness of space, the beauty of plant life, and patterns found in nature and observed through my daily life and travels.

My creations are driven by a desire to channel my creative energy into making something tangible and beautiful and are influenced by the philosophy of wabi-sabi. Each piece is a reminder that life is imperfect, and that’s more than OK.

My Story

I initially began making jewelry with polymer clay. When my husband and I (and our cat Penny Lane) moved to Oakland, I started taking a ceramics workshop at a local studio to expand my knowledge of clay.

There is something so gratifying about making things with your hands - it's hard to stop! I began filling my free time with jewelry making and ceramics and decided to start selling my creations when I had developed a consistent aesthetic and began dreaming of making this passion project into something more.

I hope that the happiness I enjoy through the creative process is transferred on to the new owners of each of my things.

Frequently asked questions
What is your jewelry made out of?

I use polymer clay, cotton cord, brass, and wool yarn in my jewelry pieces. Polymer clay is a lightweight, non-toxic clay that allows for large statement jewelry without the heaviness. Earring posts and ear wires are mostly either sterling silver or 14k gold fill.

Wholesale availability

I am happy to offer wholesale pricing. Please message me for details.

Can I shop Moonwalker Things in person anywhere?

Yes! See for a list of shops that carry my jewelry and upcoming events where I’ll be selling (mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area).
