About

Chenille Chateau

Manipulating fabrics has been a lifelong love. Its latest manifestation is through antique and vintage chenille. Chenille bedspreads were fashioned by hand in the early twentieth century, but by mid century most spreads were made by machine.

Yes, these cottony soft bedspreads were made in America many decades ago, when products were constructed very, very well. I purchase the best spreads I can find and then soak and gently launder them to bring them back, as close as possible, to their original beauty. These gorgeous spreads are then folded and placed within "The Great Wall of Chenille", a floor to ceiling storage area in my studio, ready to be chosen for the next project. Part of this delightful collection is shown in the above photos.

The original designs in these old bedspreads are particularly important to me. In my work I choose to highlight the amazing shapes and colors, and carefully cut and sew the strongest, prettiest parts of the bedspreads that I have collected. The results are products that are both precisely crafted and uniquely beautiful. Heirloom quality!

It is my joy to bring some of my work to Etsy. Made - again - in America.

I do business in the state of Florida and must collect sales tax from Florida residents.
Shipping
I ship to the address listed on your Paypal account or credit card account, so please be sure it is updated and correct.

If the address you supply is incorrect, and your purchase finds its way back to me, I will reship it once you pay to have it reshipped.

Ready to ship items ship within three business days of cleared payment. Different payment methods take different amounts of time to clear. I will always convo you and let you know when your item is on its way.

Domestic shipping: items generally ship USPS, either priority, parcel post or first class depending on box size and weight, including tracking/delivery confirmation and third party insurance. I also sometimes use UPS or FED-EX, and am willing to ship overnight if you need your items very quickly.

International shipping: if my third party insurer will insure your package, I will ship to your country. If my insurer will not insure your purchase, I will have to cancel the sale and refund your full purchase price. I do apologize if this happens to you!

You will be emailed an affidavit to fill out and return. Your refund will occur after I receive the completed affidavit back from you.

You are always welcome to contact me before purchasing to inquire what your exact shipping amount will be. This shipping amount does not include your country's taxes, charges, fees or any other costs related to receiving goods into your country through customs. Please be aware that international shipping can take from 2 - 12 weeks, and sometimes even longer.
