Morelle: Twin sisters dream

Morelle is owned by twin sisters Jenny and Katie Grigoratou. It was founded in 2007 by Katie in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Katie is a self-taught designer with nothing but pure creative power and resolve. She started morelle completely as a hobby on the side of her full time job, learning as she went along. In less than a year after she started, she had quit her full time job and Etsy even invited her to be a featured seller.

After a couple of years of success and a break due to personal circumstances Katie was back to the sewing table and this time her sister Jenny followed.

While Katie is the creative one, Jenny is the analytical genius. They both knew that to run a label you need both creativity and to be business savvy and that together they would have the perfect match.

Morelle-designs combine feminine style with practicality. The basic style of the bags is chic, stylish and a little bit playful. At the same time they are all functional and built to resist the everyday wear and tear. Katie's unconventional introduction to design has resulted in unusual and maybe a little bit quirky design style.

Morelle bags are made with genuine Italian cowhide leather. We try to use the best materials available so our bags will be sturdy and last forever.

Frequently asked questions
Are the bags made out of real leather?

Yes, we use pure high quality Italian leather on our bags. We have strict technical specifications in choosing the appropriate suppliers, that’s why our leather bags retain their quality for years. Some of our leathers are custom made for optimal endurance and strength. Our vegetable tanned leather is sourced from a certified Tuscan Tannery specialized in vegetable tanning. If you want to know more about our leathers or leather quality itself you can take a look at our blog post on the following url:

What kind of leather is used to make the bag?

We use several kinds of leather types to meet different tastes and needs. We use full grain aniline, vegetable tanned, full grain semi-aniline and top grain chrome leather and even buffalo leather. Each listing refers to the leather type it’s made of. You can find further information on the difference between these leathers and the importance of choosing the right type for you on our blog post here:

Is this leather soft or stiff?

It depends on the leather each bag is made of. For the vegetable tanned leather the leather is semi-stiff. It's made from shoulder leather which is the toughest part of the hide. The chrome tanned leathers are generally softer. The leather has structure but is bendable and will also soften a bit over time. The chrome tanned leathers are suppler and will bend more.

Do you take custom orders? Do you sell Wholesale?

Due to a high volume of orders we do not take custom orders.

For wholesale orders please contact us for more info. -

Does this bag fit a laptop?

Most of our bags will fit a 13-inch laptop. You should check the measurements of the bag against the size of your laptop or contact us to be sure.

Care instructions

Your bag comes with care instructions. Other than that, each country has its own brands for leather care products which we don’t know and can’t recommend. We suggest you ask a local store specialized for leather care products to recommend a product for your bag.

I want to return or exchange a bag

You can return your bag provided you return it within the dates specified above. We will refund you the amount of the bag minus the shipping cost. Please contact us for instructions. Refunds will NOT be given if:
- A bag does not get back to us because of fault of the buyer.
- The bag has been used and/or has signs of wear & tear

Make sure you read the bag specifications so you don't receive a bag that is not the size you expected. We try to display the colors as accurately as possible. Colors appear different from screen to screen.
We accept exchanges on the same terms as the refund. As soon as we make sure that the bag is in top condition then we can send you your other selected bag. You will have to pay shipping cost of both bags.

When will I receive my bag?

We ship by Hellenic post. You will be able to track your package (we will provide the link to you). Delivery times are specified above.
Please contact us for delivery times to other destinations. We always ship to your ETSY address. Please make sure that this address is correct and updated. If you want us to ship your bag to another address send us a message. Packages may be held in customs (although very rare) and therefore be delayed. You will be able to see if your package is held in customs via the tracking information.
