The newest members of our household.
Ever hear of a husband ASKING his wife to start a new hobby? Well, after several years of knife-smithing (under the name Lion of Judah knives), my husband, John, taught himself to lampwork beads about 10 years ago. Then he asked me to take a jewelry making class, so I could start incorporating his beads into necklaces and bracelets. Originally, I didn't want to because what mom of four feels that she has extra time for another hobby? Then I visited a bead shop and saw all the "lovelies" there, and I have never looked back! Since then, while continuing to make jewelry, we have experimented with photography, copper enamel, postage stamp pendants, glass and copper boxes, handmade copper kaleidoscopes, ceramic tiles and pendants, felted wool, needle felting on sweaters, and fabric based "Rainbow Laminate", or micarta. In general, if it’s metal, John makes it, and if it’s colorful or fuzzy, I do. And sometimes we make things together. Because we like to treasure-hunt, we occasionally have vintage goodies to offer in the store, too.
To support this creating habit (and to buy food) John has a day job as a college professor, and I work part-time as a Library Assistant. We have 4 grown sons, a daughter in law, and one grand daughter, and 4 cats at latest count. We live in rural Minnesota and love it here after our years of roaming through California, Utah, Washington, and Illinois.
Our goal is to make attractively designed high-quality items. Please feel free to contact us if you have something special in mind!

I'm Amy. I love all the beautiful bits that make lovely and eye-catching necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. I've recently become interested in upcycling wool jackets and sweaters with needle felting and sewn-on embellishments.

***A Word About COLOR*****Please note that every computer/phone/tablet display has a slightly different color balance. I have tried very hard to show the color samples in the best possible way but there will be some variations on different screens. If you have any questions about any specific colors, please feel free to convo me.
*About Rainbow Laminate* Our Rainbow Laminate is a high-quality, sturdy, polish-able material suitable for knife handles, gun grips, and lapidary treatment. We make three types of laminate: layered, which can result in solid colored laminate or striped, depending on the fabrics chosen; "rolled" which has a more random, but still layered, appearance similar to agate; and "collage", created with layers of random sized and shaped fabric scraps, resulting in the most colorful and artistic designs, but also more prone to pin-holes.
With every Rainbow Laminate order, we include finishing instructions. Rainbow Laminate listings are for standard knife scale sizes, but if you have a specific size and/or color request, contact us via "custom request" and we will try our best to create what you need.
