Welcome to Guki Khalsa Jewelry! In my shop you will find unique artisan jewelry with a modern exotic influence.
I strive to create timeless jewelry with an eye towards sustainability. I believe we need fewer, higher quality, things. With that aim in mind I build all my jewelry to last. Each piece is created by me in my studio in Sun Valley, Idaho.
I pride myself on an attention to detail. While I think detail is important I really don't believe in perfection, I think perfection usually means boring. So while you may find tool marks on my meticulously wrapped wire, they are part of the finish. Some of the gemstones I use will be chosen for their high grade and magnificent cut and color others will be chosen for their unique flaws. I hope you enjoy the exploration.
Special thanks to my very talented sister Dev who does all my photographs. If you would like to see more of her work you can find it at: http://www.devkhalsaphotography.com/

Modern Exotic Jewelry
The Process
I began making jewelry, as many little girls do, stringing beads. When I attended college I was finally introduced to traditional jewelry construction. My gypsy spirit led me to move around the West Coast for many years and so wire wrap, needing few tools, became my medium. Once I settled down in Idaho I soon became restless with the limitations of wire wrap and decided to broaden my pallet. Today I combine soldering, forging and wire wrap to achieve my finished work
The Artist
I have always drawn inspiration from nature, my travels and architecture. I began traveling early in life, attending boarding school in India at the age of 11. The shapes, colors and textures of Asia have always been a source of inspiration for me. Trained as an architect my first career was designing high-end homes. I bring that attention to detail and love of craftsmanship to my jewelry. My primary studio is in Sun Valley, Idaho where my daily contact with nature always revitalizes and inspires my work.

Additional policies and FAQs
Sterling Silver: Silver with a fineness of 925 parts per 1000 (92.5%) silver and 75 parts per thousand (7.5%) copper, which increases the silver's hardness.
Gold Filled Wire: Gold-filled wire is made by forming a tube of gold and filling the tube with a base metal, usually jeweler's brass. The gold is pressure and heat bonded to the inner core. The gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total wire. Gold-filled wire for jewelry offers an affordable, durable choice at a much lower cost of solid gold. 14K gold filled wire is also called 14/20 gold filled wire. There is 100 times more gold in gold filled than in gold plate. A gold filled piece of jewelry with normal wear and care should last a lifetime. It is tarnish-resistant like solid 14 karat gold and is safe for most people with sensitive skin who can wear solid 14 karat gold jewelry.
Vermeil: Vermeil is an item made in Sterling Silver and then coated in a thick layer of gold ranging from 10 karat to 24 karat that is at least 2.5 microns thick. The layer or gold is much thicker than Gold plate.
CARE
I do my best to make each piece of jewelry strong but handmade pieces made from sterling and gold can be a little more delicate than jewelry made from base metals. Please also take care when cleaning your jewelry, do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths. Take particular care to use a delicate cleaner when cleaning pearls or soft stones.
CUSTOM ORDERS
I love custom orders and would be more than happy to work with you on creating a unique piece to your specifications--just convo me. When finished, the piece will be listed in my Etsy shop with a reservation for you. I will keep it reserved for 14 days. If you have any trouble with that time limit be sure to contact me to sort it out.
