Way back in 1989, there was a girl named Sabrina who wanted to make cool stuff that would make other people smile. So she did! For many years, she made dolls, and costumes, and toys, and home decor, and jewelry, and much more. Her little business morphed and changed names a few times..."Kitten's Kids", "Sabrina's Scrap Bag", and "Sabrina's Scraps" to name a few. Whatever she called it, people really seemed to like the goodies she made out of re-purposed materials on a shoestring budget (long before this was fashionable!) Before long, her craft goodies were all over San Diego County, and finding their ways into homes in other states.
And in the midst of all this crafting chaos, she became a MOM too! Two kids later, she found herself so busy, that it was time to take a break from the crafts...it was a long time away...more than enough time to charge her creative batteries and raise a couple of awesome adults (with the help of her supportive husband.)
23 years after making her first doll for sale, she found herself with totally NEW ideas in her head, and plethora of teenagers surrounding her with even MORE new ideas. But how could she do it alone???
Lo and behold, she found she didn't HAVE to do it alone...she had a built-in partner in crime...ahem...in CREATIVITY! So "Mostly Monsters CV" was hatched...
with daughter Taylor's artistic ideas & pop-culture sensibilities, and Mom Sabrina's crafty know-how, the team got to work making some of the most ADORABLE monsters around!
Colorful furry hats, cuddly pillows, not-so-scary monsters, dolls, toys, jewlery, barrettes, and the list goes on!
We start with hand-drawn ideas (we've got three Composition books FILLED with ideas and illustrations so far!!!), create our own patterns from tissue paper and cardstock, and let the sewing machine FLY as our little guys come to life! (In case you wondered, most of our machine sewing is done on a 1963 Singer Sewing Machine!) Many of our items are one-of-kind, and even those with twins, triplets, or those who come in "Flocks" retain their individual personalities with hand-sewn expressions and details.
As long as we've got ideas percolating and nimble fingers to create them, the monsters will just keep on coming!!! And if our monsters have made you SMILE, then we know we've done our job well.
We are so proud to announce that the MONSTERS have now paid for Taylor's college tuition, graduating debt free through hard work! But this doesn't mean we're stopping...we've got too many ideas and will continue to support her budding career as a Film Director and/or Editor, so we thank you in advance for helping her earn her first "Oscar"! FYI: All our goods are handmade in a SMOKE-FREE environment.
However, not "cat-free", although we do store our items where our little rascals can't get in, and give our items a quick "lint-roll" before shipping.
