The apparent alchemy of felting, the transformation of hundreds of discrete stitches into a single piece of fabric, fascinates me, and I am amazed anew with each project I complete. Blending a long-standing family tradition of “making do” with a more contemporary green sensibility, I often use vintage, recycled, reclaimed and salvaged fibers. My preference for these materials allows me access to a widely varied pallet and also satisfies my desire to avoid waste. My materials of choice are all natural fibers, and I only work with synthetics when washability is a priority (for example, in children’s items) or when the color and texture of a specific yarn prove irresistible. All my work is one-of-a-kind and of my own design; I select the materials I want to work with and let them guide me through the design and creation process. While I always have a rough idea of where a project is going, my finished products are often a delightful surprise to me, and I hope they will please you as well.
