About

I can't stop making pots!

It all began at a friend''s dinner party.
Me: "I've always been interested in how pottery is made."

Dear Friend: "I have a kiln in the garage that you can have."

Me: "Well....let me see if I can find a class somewhere."

I immediately set out to find an instructor. Living in rural Northern Arkansas I felt it might not be too easy to find someone teaching pottery. But my hopes were exceeded when I found ceramic artist Deborah Mitchell in Yellville, AR only 20 Minutes away.

I studied under Deborah's careful instruction for three years. I was determined to learn everything about working with clay only to learn that there is always one more lesson to be learned.

Here is what Deborah has to say about my journey in clay;

"Liz Gamelin, Mountain Home Pottery presents a fresh response to an age old medium. She interprets natural rhythms found in nature as a fluid expression of the world around us. Her partnership with clay is evident in the eventual shape and expression that is presented. Liz reminds us that we must be open to change every step of the way. There is a natural process that becomes part of the maker as the maker finds her way with the clay. Change, too, means being open to the original intent and all the nuances of directions to which it leads."

Asked at a clay seminar: 'Why do we make pots?'
I answered: BECAUSE I CAN"T STOP!

That's when you know you have found your passion!

Welcome to my shop! I make functional stoneware pottery that is wheel thrown, hand built or a combination of the two. Each piece is one of a kind. Tableware will relate to each other in glaze color and basic shape. Slight differences in each piece show that each piece is indeed handmade! My pottery pieces continue to evolve, so please check back often to see "what's new"!

Shipping
Please contact me about shipping costs. I pack my pieces very carefully, usually a box within a box with much bubble wrap and cushioning. I have yet to loose a piece to breakage in shipping, but I do recommend insurance on the larger pieces. I prefer USPS but will ship UPS or FEDEX at your request.
I will ship within two days of receiving the order.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you have any problem with items received please contact me and I will make things right.
