Besser hätte es nicht ablaufen können insbesondere wenn man die Entfernungen berücksichtigt. Der Artikel entsprach meiner Vorstellung und ich kann deswegen MountainMasche in Vancouver/B.C. weiterempfehlen.

Just created a new member for the "Hernando Island" family: a long cabled scarf to go with mittens and hat. Baby, it's cold outside!
Here is a new custom order getting started: an infinity scarf with cables and bobbles in pure angora

About

Mission Impossible turned Passion for the Rare & Luxurious

My first knitting project in third grade was a scarf: knit & purl - it really could not be any simpler. Yet, it was Mission Impossible for me! I simply was not able to knit and mom had to finish the scarf.

Only a few years later - I believe I had just turned 14 - mom's best friend ordered a hand-knit traditional Austrian Trachten cardigan and I was asked to knit it (Really? Have they completely forgotten about my third grade scarf disaster??). It was my first custom order - and the start to a life long passion!!

I spent all my high school and university years knitting custom orders under the desk. Very much to my teachers' dispair. They predicted a future with many sweaters but without a degree.

Knitting for high end yarn stores introduced me to high quality yarns which I would have never been able to afford for myself. As teenager, all my own projects were made in affordable man-made materials. But when the number of sweaters surpasses the hundreds you just know that only the best is good enough.

My love for nature and the great outdoors led me from Austria via Spain to Vancouver, Canada. Appreciation for both natur and fashion and a desire to create uniqueness as opposed to mass production is reflected in "MountainMasche": Rare natural yarns of the highest quality in their natural undyed colours are the basics for most of my garments. I aim to use yarn that was not exposed to aggressive chemical dyes. Many of the natural yarn colours are beautiful as they come (alpacas give us a variety of at least 22 different natural colours) - but I also understand the desire and need in fashion to combine accessories with existing wardrobe and a preference for colour.

Hand knitting is such a time consuming process - it really deserves only the best fibers. I have spent countless hours sourcing cashmere, qiviut, royal alpaca, baby camel, silk, mink, yak, etc. The rarer the yarn the more exciting!
The most rewarding moment in the creation process is touching a skein for the first time and feeling the softness of the fiber. It always amazes me to see how a simple strand of yarn turns into a cable, airy lace, bobbles, or a complicated stitch combination!

With MountainMasche I wanted to create a brand specializing not only in rare and sought after yarns of high quality but also using rather thinner yarn to turn the garment into a unique and one-of-a-kind piece reflecting the love for hand knitting and to elevate each garment to something special, something rare that cannot be found around every corner. Every garment is sold like a "limited edition" including the number of sold items. They also include small bags containing lavender and cedar chips for best storing protection.

Welcome to MountainMasche* where I strive to do my very best to make your knitted dreams come true! (*Masche is the German word for stitch).

All my garments are designed "from scratch" and therefore unique. If you purchase a product you can be sure that there are only a few of the same (and a small description card that I enclose with every sold item will tell you how many there are worldwide).

Hand knitting requires a lot of time and dedication - therefore only the best, most sought after and highest quality materials are used, in most cases in their natural colour.

If you do not find anything to your liking, I will be glad to produce to your exact requirements, may that be copying something you have seen in a fashion magazine or you prefer one of my garments but with "more colour" or in a different fiber. In this case please contact me to discuss details and measurements.

Never hesitate to ask for anything in particular - I will do my best to satisfy your wishes and create something one-of-a-kind especially for you! Our services even include hand knitting with yarn provided by you!

All garments are available in many different yarn types. Choose from Qiviut (Muskox down), Cashmere, Royal Alpaca, Silk, Yak, Baby Camel, Angora, etc. or blends of these.
