Announcement   Hello, my name is Carl, aka MrTieDye. I am an Artist and I love the medium of tie-dye. I push the boundaries of tie-dye to places few people have seen. I am constantly asked "how did you do THAT with tie-dye?"

Great dyes, quality tees, and attention to detail, combined with my ability to embrace the random nature of liquid color equals an awesome new shirt for you to show off.*

I work professional fiber reactive dyes called Procion, they are the same type dyes clothing manufacturers. The tees are Gildan Brand that are 6.1 oz, 100% cotton.

I started twisting tees and splashing dye in August 2000 and quickly realized the unlimited potential of the tie-dye medium. I have experimented with many techniques of tie-dye as I explored its history. Now, along with my peers, I am boldly contributing to the future of this dynamic new face now emerging in the World of Art ~ Tie-Dye!

* Not responsible for all of the extra attention and compliments you will receive while wearing one of my tees or dresses or yoga pants ( well really I am, but I warned you).

About

Dyeing for a Living.

I feel I have been a creative person all of my life, expressing myself through various endeavors from wood working, clay modeling to photography.

13 years ago I stumbled into the world of tie-dye. I had never done it or wore it until I was a co-owner of a gift/book store and we wanted to add something new. We gave tie-dye a try and I feel in love with the creative process.

The store, Indigo Child, was only open for two years but tie-dye stayed with me. After a couple years of doing for myself, friends and family I decided to try it out full time and see where it led me.

I started thinking on a name for my business that would really tell people what I did. I tossed around all sorts of name and the best I had come up with was 'Walking on Rainbow' because I loved my tie-dye socks. Then one day I was at a school helping the kids create their own tee shirts. My last name is McClellan and the kids found it difficult to say or remember. All day long I was referred to as Mr. Tie-Dye. By the end of the day I knew I had my business name.

Through a process of experimentation I have developed many techniques to create dyed by hand art on tee shirts, tapestries, shoes and many other types of clothing. Another part of my success with this art comes from embracing chaos.

Even with all of the methods I use to control where the dye goes, I know I cannot completely control the flow of liquid color through so many layers of fabric. I do my part and let the Universe do its part. I love what I do and I feel that comes through in my work.

I started tie-dyeing 13 years ago, but in the last few years I have evolved from doing tie-dye to creating custom tees and tapestries. I am a fabric artist, I dye each design by hand. I love to create and look forward to the next challenge.

I love to create beautiful clothes for people to wear and awesome tapestries to decorate your walls, windows and ceiling. I hand tie and dye everything I sell and will do custom orders if you do not see what you want in my stores. Peace ~ Carl
