About

Uncovering history piece by piece...

Many people ask, is Ms. Jeannie Ology your real name?

Well my dears, you see, it's like this. Ms. Jeannie is a detective of sorts. And good detectives shroud themselves in a veil of mystery, because, after all, it is not about them but about the story they are seeking.

That's Ms. Jeannie - a story detective, if you will, out there scouring her neck of the woods for interesting finds and uncovering all the history that lies there. So let your imagination determine who exactly Ms. Jeannie is, and while you are doing that, she'll tell you a story about history and her piece in it.

If that doesn't quite satisfy your curiosity, here is a little bit more about some of Ms. Jeannie's favorite vintages...

favorite movie: The Philadelphia Story
favorite book: The Great Gatsby
favorite children's book: The Velveteen Rabbit
best city she's ever visited: Morocco
if she could live in any era: Paris in the 1920's
favorite actress: Katharine Hepburn
favorite actor: Cary Grant
her most treasured collection: antique ironstone pottery
favorite house style: saltbox
favorite flower: peony
in her closet, you'll find these items: vintage nightgowns, mid-century cardigans
most inspired by: embroidery, calligraphy, nature, folk art
favorite color: hawthorne

She loves strong men, independent women, big dogs, well traveled tales, rolling hills, cheeky jokes, weepy movies, year-round gardening, dramatic surprises and most importantly, her wonderful husband, Mr. Jeannie Ology, without whom life would not be nearly as exciting.

Periodically, on Ms. Jeannie's blog, she interviews various creatives. One of the questions she always asks is: If you could sit down to luncheon with anyone famous, living or dead, who would you choose?

Ms. Jeannie's luncheon table would look like this: Katharine Hepburn, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Amelia Earhart, Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain, Margaret Wise Brown and Lassie (the original!). Can you imagine the conversation?!

To keep up with Ms. Jeannie on a regular basis, follow her blog and stop by for a visit on pinterest. She'd love to stay acquainted!

Shipping
Ms. Jeannie does her best to estimate the correct shipping amounts for each item offered. However, sometimes, standing at the post office counter, she discovers that she has way underestimated the price to ship to your neck of the woods. Should this happen with your item, she will take your package back home and send you a message to let you know the correct mailing price. You can then decide if you'd like to pay the additional postage or receive a refund for your purchase.

Likewise - sometimes Ms. Jeannie over-estimates shipping. If that is the case with your item - she will be happy to refund the difference.

If you have any questions whatsoever about the shipping price of a specific item please send a message. Shipping prices vary so dramatically especially if you purchase multiple items at once. If you feel like a quoted shipping price seems too high please let Ms. Jeannie know. She's more than happy to get creative in the mailing department!
Refunds and Exchanges
The largest department in Pittsburgh, PA was Kauffman's 5th Avenue which was in business from 1871-2006. Their return policy in the 1950's looked this:

{SHOP CAREFULLY >>> AVOID RETURNS}

{When merchandise is purchased and later returned, the loss to you and to the store is obvious. Shop carefully to avoid returning merchandise.. and when a return is unavoidable, please bring back the package yourself and as promptly as possible.} - Kaufmann's 5th Ave.

That return policy worked well 70 years ago and it works well today! Ms. Jeannie wants you to love your new treasure just as much as she does (if not more!). Refunds and returns are handled on a case by case basis, so please contact Ms. Jeannie right away if you are unsatisfied.

Regretfully, Ms. Jeannie does not offer refunds on vintage clothing. She does her best to describe all measurements, faults, flaws and sizing in her listing descriptions - so please pay close attention to that information. Don't forget to measure yourself or a similar piece of clothing you already own - to make sure your new vintage piece will fit appropriately.
