Mt. Marten: A Place to Find Unique Needle-Felted Creations
I have been a visual artist for many years, currently working as a freelance animator and illustrator. My work is inspired by the natural world and all of the creatures found in it, both familiar and strange. I feel like I always need to have some sort of very tangible, textural, "hand-made" quality to my work, even if it is created digitally. Really, I like creating things in many ways, but for the longest time there was no 3-dimensional medium that completely appealed to me.
Then, in 2013, I discovered a whole new creative outlet: needle felting. As soon as I saw the creations one could make through this medium, I knew it was for me. I love the minimalism of materials involved and how it is directly connected to nature. It speaks to the same aesthetic sensibilities I hold with my 2-dimensional art, and ultimately my goal in creating needle felted work is the same - I want to make things that delight, spark people's imagination, and even create whole new worlds to explore.
When people buy art and decor, I believe it should be a thoughtful purchase for a good product that is not to be thought of as disposable. I aim to create quality needle-felted sculptures and decorations that people can really treasure for a long time to come.
My wool and materials are all sourced from other small businesses who are based in the U.S. If you would like more information about them, please check out their sites:

Additional policies and FAQs
-this may seem obvious, but in general, keep your item away from things that are spill-able or anything that may stain or dirty it- you'll have a really hard time finding a way to clean it well and still maintain the integrity of your piece!!
-do not put through the washer/dryer!
-do not immerse in water or cleaner
-do not pull on loose strands of wool. If there is an undesired stray hair, clip it off with scissors rather than pulling.
-a good way to clean off a needle felted piece that has collected some dust is to use compressed air- hold the can at least a few inches away from the felt piece
-if the piece is made on a wire armature, do not give it to small children or pets as toys. If you're not sure if there's any wire, double-check the listing or send me a convo!
Storage
If you need to pack away your needle felted items until the next holiday season, for a move, etc., here are some helpful tips to keep them in great condition:
-keep the box/bag you received your item in for easiest storage
-otherwise, wrap it up in its own piece of tissue paper, bubble wrap, etc.
-do not place heavy items on top of it. If it stays squished down for long enough it can lose its shape!
