Practical pottery for practical people...with a few odd balls thrown in!
Food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.
All of my functional pottery is hand thrown and fired in an electric kiln. Every glaze is unique; the majority are hand mixed glazes and many of them are my own personal recipes; I've added some new bright commercial glaze to my pieces as well. It is fired to Cone 6 (approx. 2260 degrees F), unless otherwise noted. Everything in the shop is complete and ready to ship!

Mudbug: Freedom in Clay
Mudbug Creations is a little business that gives me a big happy!
It began for me in high school, with an absolutely fabulous teacher with a passion for ceramics. After he got me started, I never wanted to stop. However, I was always a student of the sciences and pursued and achieved a career in physical therapy.
I was not completely happy without working in the arts. I needed some creative freedom. After a three year hiatus in art, I joined the fine arts program at Drury University. Here, another wonderful teacher encouraged me to expand on my pottery skills and open a business.
I enjoy my art and hope that other's do as well. My family has supported my little business and, with their help, a small gazebo was built in the backyard. It housed my kiln for years until my husband and I purchased a new house with a second building out back. I now operate out of my own personal studio on my property, 9 months of the year. I close for 3 months in the winter, cause it is dang cold!
Mudbug has been a fun and challenging endeavor and I hope to keep making for years to come!

Shop policies
When you buy my pottery, you can know that it has been lovingly hand crafted to the highest of my standards. My functional pieces are fired at cone 6 in an electric kiln; all glazes are foodsafe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe, unless indicated otherwise in the listing, so please read the full description. Each piece is hand thrown on my pottery wheel and hand glazed. I mix most my own glazes and many recipes are purely my own. I have also started to incorporate some beatifully bright commercial glazes.
