With a Geoscience degree, I learned how our incredible earth uses heat, pressure and mineral composition to create the amazing landscapes, formations, and scenery that we enjoy. Many of these earth processes are also used by ceramists. As ceramists, we get the joy of shortening the time frame (often by millions of years) to create our pieces.

I'm inspired by functional ware that we connect with. My first piece was a dog bowl. It gave me a lot of joy to feed my dog from a bowl I made.

I think that we, as humans, connect with people in so many ways. Food, laughter, meeting a new friend on top of a 14'ner, and even a mug that reminds us of a special time or place or person.

The look & feel of my pottery is more focused on the connection, with techniques that create an artistic piece reflecting the handmade process. For this reason, each piece will have its own character.

My favorite part of the process is opening the kiln to discover and experience and learn from the results.
