Hello, my name is Melissa and I am the owner and ceramic artist behind MUDDY HEART ^_^. I began to fall in love with ceramics about 10 years ago, and now it is a main part of my everyday life. I love to be able to create for a living, it is a wonderful feeling to leave a maker's mark in this beautiful world *_^
My designs are simple yet vibrant and with a minimal-modern aesthetic to them. My intent behind each design is Beauty + Function.
I design each piece with YOU in mind!; I create objects you can use everyday which will bring beauty to your home and add joy to your life ^_^
Each piece is handcrafted in my home studio in gorgeous Cary, North Carolina. My studio is a small but inspiring space surrounded by oaks and pines and showered by beautiful sunshine.

Returns and exchange details
A 20% restocking fee will apply to Cancellations made after 24hrs as well as any returns - cost of returning must be covered by you. Please Contact me for return approval as instructions.
P.S....Because of the nature of custom pieces, special orders and custom items cannot be returned or exchanged.
They can only be cancelled within 24 hours of placing the order, and the making process starts the after this time.

US orders: will ship within 3 days of payment via USPS First Class.
International orders: will ship within 3 days of payment via First Class International.
♥ SHIPPING TIME FOR " MADE TO ORDER ITEMS" ♥ -- Once you payment has posted I begin to create your piece. Please allow 2-8 weeks of production time depending on the item. The piece will be absolutely worth the wait.
♥ Grouping Orders/ Combined Shipping♥ -- I will pack multiple items together to save you shipping costs. Please email me the items you're looking to buy together so I can offer you a special shipping price at checkout ^_^
Additional policies and FAQs
♥ HOW IT'S MADE ♥ -- Pottery is a labor of love, patience and delicate craftsmanship .Every single piece I make goes through a long metamorphosis...I first design my pieces either in my head or sketch them out in my handy dandy notebook....then from a slab of hard, cold porcelain clay I hand-sculpt it or shape it with molds until it is how I envisioned it...The next step is the drying stage, which takes about a week and it is so important in order to keep the shape and strength of the piece . Once dry, I sand it and afterwards it gets kiln fired first at 1800 degrees. Once bisque fired, I glaze it all by hand (**with lead-free glazes**) and the it is ready to be fired at 2200 degrees. The overall process takes about 2-3 weeks to complete, achieving beautiful and unique piece to treasure for years!.-- every one of my kitchen pieces is food safe, dishwasher safe, oven safe and microwave safe!...Of course, like any porcelain, ceramic or pottery piece, handle with care and it will remain beautiful, useful and amazing for a very loooong time ^_^
♥ SO WHY POTTERY? ♥ -- ceramics are a durable and intricate material, where colors melt together, and textures come alive with unpredictable shades after being kiln fired. Every item is unique and very special!
