Announcement   Thankyou for browsing in my shop.

I am a potter living in Weipa, a remote bauxite mining town almost at the tip of Cape York in Australia. Bauxite comes in the form of small iron red pebbles, a far cry from its end product aluminium. Kaolin, the fine pure white powder, lies beneath the bauxite layers and below the water table for most of the year.

This is an incredible environment, rich in indigenous history and full of contrasts on many levels. I walk the beach most mornings, sharing it with birds, sometimes crocodiles and the occasional dolphin, but its Nature's unfolding palette which inspires my work continually. When you purchase from Mudheartpottery, a little piece of Weipa comes along, be it in the clay body, the bauxite and kaolin decorative effects or the little found soft coral handles used to enhance the forms. I love what I do and where I live and hope the user, in touching the piece has a sense of its place of origin.

My glazes all contain the local kaolin and my favourite, shino, is used extensively as it puddles and pools in amazing landscape-like patterns. I use my hands continually, manipulating both the glaze and pot to attain these distinctive effects. Shells from 'my beach' imprint and scratch the surfaces adding to my potter's mark. I like my pots' imperfections in the making to remain, the freshness of form for all to touch.

Enjoy owning a little bit of Weipa with a Mudheartpottery pot!

More information on my work, family and place are found on my blog. Feel free to contact or visit if you have the opportunity.

My shipping costs will be dependent on size and weight so for smaller pieces the cost may lower. Packaging is important out of Weipa, with surface mail as it travels some distance, first by barge then road, but I bubble wrap and box and have had no losses as yet. Cost-wise its considerably cheaper but small items can be sent express post within Australia at a reasonable rate.

If you would prefer to direct debit feel free to contact me.

Shipping for overseas buyers is dependent on size and weight so contact is essential to sort out costs from my remote abode!

A very nice set of small trays, perfect for sauces. The variations in colours and textures are just fantastic!

Love the red eyes on this yunomi! The proportions and hand-feel are fantastic, and the cup is well balanced. There are so many interesting details too.

The iron oxide markings on this chawan really comes to life in natural light. This will be my go to chawan for that morning cup of Oolong tea on the weekends.

Payment
For Australian buyers I am happy to accept direct transfer or paypal. Overseas buyers to use paypal.
All my work is guaranteed, and I will issue a full refund for the price of the work in the case that a customer is not satisfied. However, I cannot reimburse anyone for shipping costs incurred in either the sending or receiving. So sorry about that!
Shipping
Pottery is expensive to ship. Within Australia I will use express post for items which are under 3kg as ordinary post takes at least 2 weeks from my remote abode!Heavier items are best boxed and sent 'snail mail' as we call it up here! For overseas buyers my shipping prices are based on the actual weight and the rates as set by Australia Post. I never know for sure until I get to the post office but I always check with the buyer prior to payment. For smaller lighter items I will use airmail and this seems to take around 2 weeks or less.
Refunds and Exchanges
I guarantee all my work. If you receive the work, but it doesn't meet your expectations, please send it back to me for a full refund on the price of the piece (not shipping, though--sorry!).

If the piece arrives broken, I will also refund your money for the price of the work. However, again, the cost of shipping remains the responsibility of the buyer. Pottery is risky! It does tend to break. I always do my very VERY best, to pack extremely carefully--and so far no work has broken in transit.
If you receive a piece that is broken upon arrival, please take a quick photo and email it to Lyn [!at] mudheartpottery.com. I keep these for my records.
I strive to be as honest and forthright as possible when it comes to my pottery, and I am sure you are, too.

If there is ever any problem with the work you receive from me, or an issue you may have, please let me know, and I will do my best to rectify it. I really want my customers to be happy and enjoy my pieces.
