5 out of 5 starsThis gorgeous handmade tile is exactly what I’d been looking for to install over the vanity of a bathroom I’m remodeling. The seller was very helpful and prompt in making a requested modification to the back of the tile to make it compatible with permanent installation. It’s just a beautiful piece and delightful transaction.

5 out of 5 starsKaren was an absolute joy to work with, fantastic communication back and forth, and the tiles were shipped immediately after payment in very careful packaging. The craftsmanship is top notch, and I love that they're handmade and not out of some box store catalog - these will definitely be a conversation piece in my home. It will take me a while yet to finish this project, but will post photos when I can. Would not hesitate to buy from this seller again and totally recommend.

About MUDpi
MUD Pi creates original decorative ceramic tiles and ceramic objects.
With a bachelor degree in architecture, an interest in clay and the purchase of our first fixer upper in need of a bathroom and a kitchen renovation, I developed a strong interest in tile design and tile production. In 1993 my husband and I began the handmade Tile Company, MUD Pi. The name, MUD Pi, is word play, MUD of the Earth, Pi of the mind. Our production tile studio (mudpi.com) creates made to order contemporary arts and crafts tiles from a series of original tile lines. They are designed for residential installations, including fireplace surrounds, kitchen back-splashes and bathrooms.
In 2008 we moved from Chicago to Columbus Ohio. MUD Pi became a solo endeavor. The MUD Pi etsy shop opened in 2010. This gave me an opportunity to experiment with new imagery, glazes and techniques. I have explored stand alone tile designs and worked on creating hand-built ceramic objects. In my MUD Pi Etsy shop you will find individual tiles, mounted gift tile trivets and murals as well as ceramic objects. Many of the designs explore nature/garden themes and their symbolism.
Each tile starts with a design and is created by first building a positive and than casting a mold. The clay is rolled into a slab and pressed into the mold. The tiles are hand trimmed and hand glazed with a paintbrush from many glazes that I mix in the studio. Layering a number of glazes creates the unique glaze colors and mottled surfaces. The tiles are fired to cone 6. The amount of handwork involved creates variations and each tile is unique.
