+++ LA STORIA +++
Ciao, sono Jacquie, infermiera pediatrica a volte, armeggiatrice creativa sempre.

Sono il sognatore e fondatore di Murphie's Room, un umile piccolo negozio che vende accessori per bambini e nursery fatti a mano innescato da un evento che cambia la vita.

La creazione è sempre stata nel mio sangue, la mia defunta mamma una brillante disegnatrice e fotografa, mio padre un avido pittore ad olio. D'altra parte amavo cucire fin dalla tenera età. Abbonamenti a riviste e modelli di op shop come "Il meraviglioso mondo degli orsacchiotti" e "Art magic" hanno piantato i semi. La mia Nana mi ha regalato la sua vecchia macchina da cucire e alla giovane età di 8 anni ho iniziato a fare vestiti per i miei piccoli amici di peluche.

Durante tutti gli anni della scuola elementare, del liceo e dell'università ho imparato il punto croce, la pittura, il disegno, l'applique, lo scrapbooking e il lavoro a maglia.

Quando ho scoperto di essere incinta del mio primo figlio e della mia figlia Murphie, come la maggior parte delle future mamme con un amore per tutto ciò che riguarda l'artigianato, ho iniziato il processo di rendere tutto ciò che potevo possibile per la mia cara bambina.

Combinare un nuovo amore, lavorare all'uncinetto, con un vecchio amore, cucire. Ho intrapreso un viaggio per darle i vestiti e i giocattoli colorati più unici che potessi. Ogni settimana una nuova idea e il mucchio cresceva in lei che presto sarebbe diventato spazio, così come la mia pancia e i suoi piccoli calci.

A metà strada, 20 settimane, eravamo quasi arrivati. Ma il nostro desiderio e amore per lei non poteva cambiare ciò che è venuto dopo. Alla nostra successiva scansione abbiamo ricevuto la notizia più devastante che un genitore potesse mai sentire, che il nostro prezioso piccolo Murphie era malato.

A 25 settimane Murphie è nata dormendo tranquillamente circondata da un amore che sarebbe stato portato da lei e da me per sempre.

Era nei giorni più bui che non potevo sopportare di guardare nella stanza che stavamo amorevolmente facendo nel suo asilo nido, la porta era chiusa con tutti quei ricordi dentro. La vita ha tenuto premuto il lungo pulsante di pausa fino a quando, ho aperto di nuovo quella porta e ho lasciato che il dolore si lavasse, raccogliendo amorevolmente i pezzi di lei e trovando l'amore nei fili di ogni oggetto che ho fatto.

Fu allora che capii che una qualche versione della gioia poteva essere ritrovata raccogliendo quel gancio e quel filo.

Con l'aiuto della mia amata anima gemella e compagno sognatore Michael, Murphie's Room era in movimento e il resto è storia.

+++ LA MISSIONE +++
Murphie's Room è stata creata in memoria di mia figlia nella speranza che venga ricordata per qualcosa di speciale.

Il mio desiderio è che Murphie's Room dia un po' di speranza, un pezzetto di Murphie, a una mamma che presto diventerà mamma, mamma di un bambino angelo, mamma di un bambino arcobaleno o a te stessa. È per renderti eccitato e gioioso per ciò che verrà di nuovo o per la prima volta.

È per dire a chiunque altro là fuori stia attraversando questo che non sei solo e il potere del tuo amore può manifestarsi in qualcosa di bello.

Si tratta di iniziare un dialogo, su tutti i nostri bambini che non sono mai tornati a casa, in qualsiasi circostanza, che sono sempre ricordati. Non importa quante settimane dovute o ore vissute erano un sogno del futuro che si avverava solo per un momento.

Ogni oggetto nella stanza di Murphie è amorevolmente realizzato da me nello studio improvvisato di fronte alla sua stanza. Tutti i filati e i tessuti sono scelti per la gioia e la vivacità che mi viene in mente quando penso a lei. I miei articoli sono progettati per essere giocosi, luminosi e unici.

Realizzato in una famiglia senza animali domestici, senza fumo.

Tutti gli articoli vengono etichettati e amorevolmente avvolti in carta velina rosa con etichetta swing per essere gustati da soli o da regalare.

La maggior parte degli articoli sono realizzati come una tantum che mi permette di essere completamente creativo con ogni pezzo fatto a mano per darti un oggetto unico.

Posso dire di essere mamma di una bellissima bambina Murphie, è lei che mi ispira ogni giorno a mantenere vivo il suo ricordo, creando nel suo nome.

+++ THE STORY +++
Hi, I’m Jacquie, paediatric nurse sometimes, creative tinkerer always.

I’m the dreamer and founder of Murphie’s Room, a humble little shop selling Handmade Babywear and Nursery accessories sparked by a life changing event.

Creating has always been in my blood, my late Mum a brilliant sketcher and photographer, my Dad an avid oil painter. I on the other hand loved sewing from an early age. Magazine subscriptions and op shop patterns like “The wonderful world of teddy bears” and “Art magic” planted the seeds. My Nana gifted me her old sewing machine and at the young age of 8 I started making clothes for my tiny stuffed friends.

All through my primary school, high school and university years I picked up cross stitch, painting, drawing, applique, scrapbooking and knitting.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child and daughter Murphie, as most expectant mothers with a love for all things craft, I began the process of making everything I could possible for my darling little girl.

Combining a new love, crocheting, with an old love, sewing. I embarked on a journey to give her the most unique colourful clothes and toys I could. Every week a new idea and the pile grew in her soon to be room as did my belly and her little kicks.

Half way, 20 weeks, we were almost there. But our longing and love for her couldn’t change what came next. At our next scan we received the most devastating news any parent could ever hear, that our precious little Murphie was sick.

At 25 weeks Murphie was born sleeping peacefully surrounded by a love that would be carried by her Daddy and I forever.

It was in the darkest of days that I couldn’t bear to look into the room that we were lovingly making into her nursery, the door was closed with all those memories inside. Life held down the long pause button until, I opened that door again and let the grief wash over, lovingly picking up the pieces of her and finding the love in the strands of each item I made.

It was then that I knew that some version of joy could be found again with picking up that hook and thread.

With the help of my beloved soul mate and fellow dreamer Michael, Murphie’s Room was in motion and the rest is history.

+++ THE MISSION +++
Murphie’s Room was created in memory of my daughter in the hope that she will be remembered for something special.

My wish is that Murphie’s Room gives a little hope, a little piece of Murphie, to a soon to be mum, a mum of an angel baby, a mum of a rainbow baby or to yourself. It’s to make you excited and joyful for what’s to come again or for the first time.

It’s to say to anyone else out there going through this that you are not alone and the power of your love can manifest into something beautiful.

It’s about starting a dialogue, about all our babies that never made it home, in whatever circumstances, that they are always remembered. No matter how many weeks due or hours lived they were a dream of the future come true for but a moment.

Each item in Murphie’s Room is lovingly made by me in the makeshift studio opposite her room. All yarns and fabrics are chosen for the joy and vibrancy it brings to my mind when thinking about her. My items are designed to be playful, bright and unique.

Made in a pet free, smoke free household.

All items come tagged and lovingly wrapped in pink tissue paper with swing tag to be enjoyed by yourself or to be given as a gift.

Most items are made as a one off allowing me to be completely creative with each handmade piece to give a unique item to you.

I can say I am a Mummy to a beautiful little girl Murphie, she is what inspires me every day to keep her memory alive, by creating in her name.
