Bought this as a memory keepsake for my 14 year old who loves her yearly canoing trips. I was a little dissapointed by the box itself. However, the silver kayaks were beautiful and my kid loved the gift.

Welcome to my shop.

Muskoka Jewelry designs are made by hand in my studio using traditional techniqes.

Once a new design idea has been chosen, I make an exact model out of silver.
This involves cutting out the pieces with a jeweler's saw, shaping and trimming them with various files, and finally soldering all these tiny pieces together to form the final shape.

This process can take several days, depending on the complexity of the design. The finished model is used to make a rubber mold which must be skillfully cut in order to function properly. The mold is injected with liquid wax. When the wax hardens it retains the shape of the mold interior (an exact negative of the original model).

These wax shapes are removed from the mold and set up in metal flasks.
Wet plaster is poured into the metal flasks. When it hardens around the wax the flasks are placed in a kiln. After a lengthy burnout process, molten silver is forced into the metal flasks where it takes on the shape of the wax patterns. The resulting silver castings are then freed from the plaster and finished by hand.

This method of jewelry making is designed to speed up the work process, thus making the finished pieces more affordable without sacrificing aesthetic appeal or functionality.

All my jewelry is stamped with my trademark "EB" and "925" indicating sterling silver or "14K" indicating fourteen carat gold.
